It's not just hiding things for the sake of hiding things. Not even remotely If that's your thought, you could attempt to make that argument on any piece of HD that isn't 100%, fully disclosed.
There is inherent value in having some of the info being uncertain -- particularly since it's uncertain in a way that with a little strategy and elbow grease, you can figure out. Those bits of uncertainty help create battles, they allow coaches to leverage different strategies, etc. If everyone had perfect information, there would be practically no battles, as a coach would know before going in that they would lose.
Apart from that, there is inherent value in having some aspects to the game that are not spoon fed, that coaches can work to figure out. Personally, I wouldn't be interested in playing an HD where everything was laid out perfectly. I think they've actually done a nice job in delineating which parts are 100% laid out there and which parts still require a little digging. Not perfect, but I think they've struck a nice balance.
