WiS allowing violation of Fair Play Rules Topic

I agree with all of that gil, and I admit I am not directly affected, and if I were I'd be pretty ****** to have to leave one of my schools. I'd be even more ****** if I later found out another coach in the same situation was allowed to keep his teams because he had the foresight to ask for permission right before the new rules were adopted though...

I'm not sure why everyone can't agree for WIS to enforce the rule from the point of announcement. I think it's a compromise for all.

And to compare a game rule to real life laws is absurd.

that might be a viable compromise, but we won't know because that is something that WiS has not done thus far, as I believe a couple of coaches upthread could attest to.

This. I was peeved about the decision and having to give up some teams, but if that is going to be the rule, so be it. Now it appears that since WIS had told a different user to move schools, and then was told that the distance was fine they are exempt from the 1000 mile requirement. I have a ticket pending specifically asking if I had sent a ticket last fall saying "I coach here and here, is that OK?" would I be exempt too? I had been specifically told the rule was no schools within 1000 miles and no schools in the same conference. Now it appears that the rule is no schools within 1000 miles and no schools in the same conference, or if WIS says you're cool.

That is what really bothers me, and the difference between dropping some teams now and maybe adding this winter when there is less to do outside, and being done with the site when credits are gone.

It seems to me that a lot of people are downplaying that the coach may've (have we confirmed that he did or did not? I don't recall) already had to move to come into compliance with the old rule. Yes, if WIS tells you one of your teams has to move, it sucks. But it has to happen if they're going to enforce things, and people understand that. We want the game to be competitive, and we'll accept reasonable annoyances to get there. But if they tell you you have to move, and then a little bit later tell you they changed their minds and you have to move again, that's the sort of thing that causes people to flip out and/or throw up their hands and leave the game.

Now if someone else has had to move twice to get into compliance, especially if you were already 800+ miles away when the 1,000 rule came into play, complain all you want. But people who have never had to move (like me, I'm new here) or people who have only had to move once shouldn't be complaining that somebody else wasn't forced to move twice.

I would have loved having a grandfather clause when they changed the rule that limited you from having a 12 man class down to 6. Back in the day I made an alias (godmaker) specifically to have 12 man classes and win championships every 4 years. It worked great until they changed the rule limiting classes. If godmaker had just been allowed to continue with that I would have been able to continue to use the 12 man class to dominate, and no one new would have been able to use the same strategy. Would have been genius for me, would have sucked for new guys.
the 12 man classes were grandfathered in. they didn't require any teams with 12 frosh / sophs or juniors to cut 6 of the players at the end of the season following enactment of the rule. existing "violations" were allowed to continue until they were played out. similarly, the teams that are grandfathered in do not open the door to a coach changing schools to one within the 1000 mile radius of the non-changing school, or picking up a 3rd team within 1000 miles of either school.

My alt ID is SimAi. I've won multiple national championships . Entire conferences are made up of my teams. No one has ever complained or reported me.
