Why is this guy a D3 scorer? Topic

You don't think 46 and 49 average defense is low for a Final Four team?

Just looking at the top 10 teams in Phelan right now after 13 games, here are the avg ath/def.
Ath Def
1 64 63
2 58 57
3 56 60
4 66 66
5 66 63
6 60 56
7 58 60
8 52 50
9 58 64
10 47 56

Here is Tark after 25 games
Ath Def
1 63 58

There is only 1 team with avg defense below 50 and only 2 teams with avg ath below 50.

Yeah, but it's decent. My statement was or was meant to be that a team needs at least a decent Ath/Def ratings to be successful.

Mystery solved. I don't think he took a shot with Davin on the floor but he was putting them up with Grinstead and Wagner out there. And he took a fullcourt shot at the end of the 1st half.

Tonight will be interesting. I've set it up so he shouldn't be on the floor without a 20-25 out there too.
Please post up the results.

Visovsky took 3 shots. One with no 25 on the court, one with 1x25 and one with 2x25.

Franklin, Davin, Snyder-25
Pritts-10
Duncan, Harris, Visovsky-5

Group 1 took 24 shots.
Pritts took 8.
Group 2 took 11 shots.
Zeier, Grinstead, at 0, took 3.

That worked pretty much the way I expected with Pritts really being the only outlier. If 2-3 of his shots had been taken by Group 1, the percentages would have been almost dead on.

And, of course, your boys:
Duncan: 20m, 2-4 FG, 5 REB, 1 TO, 2 STL, 6 PTS
Franklin: 22m, 4-8 FG, 4 REB, 2 ASST, 2 TO, 2 STL, 1 BLK, 11 PTS

Nice Mike--you are turning that ship around!

I'll be honest. A) I'm playing some pretty bad teams B) I'm doing the -5 thing in the 3-2. B is you. As I said, I was very reluctant to go that extreme.

I cut my malcontent whiner minutes to "mop-up" so Duncan and Franklin can get more time on the court. Neither of them are actually changing my mind but 9-10 minutes Wagner/Larsen were getting are going to them.

44 ath and 39 defense. That is LOW for a title team.

Last game:
Franklin, Pritts, Snyder-25
Grinstead, Duncan, Harris, Visovsky, Davin-5

First group took 35 shots.
2nd took 15.

That's not perfect but it's damn close. The math says group one should have taken 37.5 shots. I think the "big" numbers work just as well as the 0-6 system.

And, snafu, I'm coming around to your love of Franklin/Duncan. They're not carrying me to wins but they are solid contributors. Giving them the minutes I was giving Wagner/Larsen seems to be working well.

Franklin: 6-12 FG, 3-6 3PT, 3 REB, 1 ASST/TO/STL, 17 PTS in 24 minutes
Duncan: 1-3 FG, 7 REB, 3 ASST, 1 STL, 2 PTS in 21 minutes

Duncan's rebounding is surprising.

That is low, but only experienced coaches could pull that off, you need to have a knowledge of how to supplement ATH/DEF with other things, and then use it to your advantage.

I think you should give up. Because, no matter how many you show, he's going to move the goal posts. IMO, only an experienced coach is going to win a title. So this is nonsense "That is low, but only experienced coaches could pull that off".

Now you need to find a 1st/2nd season coach, with 40/35ath/def, who won a title. Otherwise, monsterturtle is simply right.

My point is that 99% of the successful teams have good Ath/DEF, there are some outliers that use a different strategy that is more difficult to pull off. My advice, and what every persons advice to new players should be is to recruit high Ath/Def players because this is the strategy that is proven to be the most successful by far. That is 100% correct, you can't debate that, look at all of the champions, and 99% of them will have good Ath/Def. My original statement was a little more absolute than was correct, I did not know of any other types of champions when I made the statement, I had never seen one. You went and pulled out the few outliers, I could go and pull a ton of examples that show my point.

Also, the players that you have recruited Mike are not the kind of players that these teams that succeed without Ath/Def. So without Ath/Def, and without elite Spd/BH/P guards with elite REB/SB bigs, you are left with a crappy team. Take my advice or leave it, I don't care its not my team.
