Megan thee stallion.....

It bumps in the car....she's an entertainer.....and she makes the uptight crowd get worked up over her act and lyrics

She found a niche and is running with it

Listened to the latest Drive By Trucker's CD (The Unraveling) last night. Very, very good. Not necessarily their best release but maybe the most hard hitting lyrically. It's very in your face (like Nicholson in A Few Good Men) but typical DBT's approach. Careening guitars, excellent solos (on guitar of course), with impassioned vocals, all delivered in a Rock/Country/Southern/Americana stew. Highly recommended.
Followed that with Wilco's GREAT Live CD "Kicking Television"............which certainly DOES capture the spontaneity and power of a typical Wilco show.
For my $$, America's best Band, at the present time in our History. Now that TP is no longer a Heartbreaker, but just a memory in our Broken Hearts!

Bob I think that Wilco is way up there too.
Jeff tweedy had a solo project in 2020.

Are you speaking of the double CD Warm and Warmer? If so. I've got it. Listened to it several times. It's good but kinda mellow. Wilco without the "thrash" and speed.

There's a great (funny!) inside joke Tweedy makes to the audience in the Live "Kicking Television" CD (IF I remember correctly it was just prior to kicking off "Handshake Drugs")......... Jeff says--- "Time to get this Party started........with some mid tempo Rock"........I nearly spilled my drink. Thought it was hilarious, and very self deprecating. Made me wonder how many folks in the audience that night in Chicago got the joke!

Funny yeah. In relatively sure that my addled mind knows of a Jeff tweedy album this year.
little known fact - heavy metal drummer was a friendly swipe from a song by the British alternative band Pavement.....they were great sports about it all ok.

My top 15 to follow, but first wanting to address the Sinatra elephant in the room. Dean Martin was BY FAR a better voice. Sinatra had better orchestration, but his VOICE? Kinda meh. His DELIVERY was definitely better also, but Dino was better and cooler by MILES.

1. Sabbath - invented a genre and even on their first album sounded like they'd been playing that sh!t for 15 years.

2. Zeppelin - very few "bad" songs on 10 great studio releases.

3. Rush - Geddy's voice is an acquired taste but MUSICALLY more gifted than any band that follows.

4. Beatles - Changed the game in many ways.

5. Floyd - admittedly over my lifetime 4 through 7 have swapped places. They're all equally 4 through 7 depending on my mood any given day. Floyd is essentially their own genre.

6. Hendrix - amazing amount of great output over his short 3 and a half years on the scene.

7. ZZ Top - Before "Eliminator" every album was pretty great. Eliminator was great for different reasons but the success of it kinda ruined the band IMO.

8. Stones - I USED to think I didn't really like them much, but one day I made a list of all the great Stones songs and it was a remarkably long list. They were unquestionably the rawest and bluesiest of the "Big 3" from the British Invasion.

9. Tull - Another acquired taste. Their catalogue is great and their sound is very unique. Aqualung is one of the greatest albums of all time.

10. Aerosmith - Their early output was great. What makes them more incredible is that their later (80s & 90s) output were solid while the Stones were putting out garbage.

11. Eagles - Such great harmonies. Such great talent. Their first 5 were great. Longrun had some really strong tracks also, but definitely their most uneven and underwhelming of their 1st 6.

12. White Stripes - A return to raw bluesy rock & roll when it was sorely lacking in general.

13. War - One of the funkiest bands ever assembled.

14. Can - This band is relatively unknown, but were 15 years ahead of their time. I'd rank them higher, but they really only had three phenomenal albums.

15. Allman Brothers - Another who'd probably be ranked higher if Dwayne hadn't died during the Eat a Peach sessions. Their later work was good, but pales in comparison to their 1st 3.

I love your post. Please keep posting.
quite an interesting and eclectic bunch.

I obviously lurve Dino Martin but I feel the same about Sinatra most particularly 47 - 66. That’s when his voice was most amazing to me.
the voice of each of them is incomparable to me.

I do know Can but haven’t listened to much by them.good point about the consistency of Aerosmith.
I also hold War in high regard and recently have gained a much greater appreciation for white stripes.
all great stuff.
pink Floyd’s first album is phenomenal too. Too bad about Syd Barrett but he did have a few amazing solo albums. If he hadn’t wigged out maybe no dark side of moon but he was one of the true great psychedelic pioneers.

please come back often.

If you only listened to a little of Can, I would highly recommend the 3 albums which most prominently featured singer Damo Suzuki. Beginning with 1971s "Tago Mago" and ending with "Future Days". Tago Mago is great. Pretty weird on tracks 4 5 and 6 but definitely a precursor to the electronic new wave, avante garde movement of the 80s. Ege Bamyasi is likely the most accessible to the average listener. The rhythm section were amazing. The drummer, in particular, consistently laid down very great, machine like grooves.

I LOVE Piper at the Gates of Dawn, while most can't listen to it. Definitely unique and not anything like what people think of when hearing someone mention Pink Floyd. Dark Side through The Wall, was a stretch of greatness hard to match by any band before or since.

Yeah, I never considered Aerosmith "great", (although their first GH album is one of the best of all time IMO. I've had it stolen from me more than any other album/CD. Followed closely by Steve Miller GH 1974-1978), but their consistency is definitely worthy of consideration and ranking them appropriately because of it.
