Today is a historic one for one of my players. 47 years ago today, Hank Aaron broke Babe Ruth's home run record off Al Downing on Monday Night Baseball. And he did it with no help from steroids. I had the privilege of watching it live from my living room back in 1974. This is the first anniversary of the historic feat that he will not be able to celebrate. RIP Henry Aaron.

I also watched that game on television. Even as a 10-year, I knew the historic importance... I grabbed my tape recorder and recorded the audio from the TV, thinking it may be worth something some day.

I was 9 1/2 years old and was already an avid Yankees fan, so I had mixed emotions watching it. But even at that young age I sensed that this was a good thing that was happening. But I had no idea of the racial aspect of it and all the Aaron had to go through because he broke the record. Today, Aaron is one of my heroes.
