Exxon-Mobil and Chevron raked in massive first quarter profits— Chevron took in $6.3 billion, quadrupling its profit from this time last year, while Exxon took in $5.5 billion, more than double last year’s profit.

But yeah it’s all Biden’s fault lol

Sorry but gas was not way up before Russia invaded.
And when Trump took us out of the Paris Agreement we lost 4 years of getting our house in better order and getting change going in other countries with more alacrity.
As more countries follow the lead of a Biden presidency and the USA and those countries become more and more independent from fossil fuels,
the remaining fossil fuel countries won’t have the market to sell anymore and when they see that green economy benefits them they will wean off of fossil fuels.

Do you think that climate change is a hoax?
You are dead wrong on gas prices not being way up before Russia invaded. They were, and then they shot up more after the invasion started.

You also mention "green economy benefits." All of the the batteries being produced are absolutely horrible for the environment. I personally think they are worse than gas powered vehicles, but let's pretend for just a moment they are the same. Why would I want to give up a gas vehicle for something that I didn't believe was any better? I wouldn't. Buy an electric car if you want one, but don't make that the only choice. The power grid in many places can't support what they have now. I don't want any part of that.

Climate change: Not a "hoax" per se. The way certain people frame it is fear-mongering. I believe climates naturally shift over time, and have for thousands of years. That's what we are seeing. And even if the US was a little cleaner in its output, it is only the smallest drop in the bucket - it wouldn't make a difference because of what is going on in most of the rest of the world.
On climate change - I am not influenced by news stories or the wishful thinking of smart people who want to define it as this or that.

Like everything else that is studied by the scientific community on things that are of immense importance and studied rigorously
I am Informed by a vast scientific consensus.
Also so much of that which was predicted starting early 2000s has been happening.
Again the scientific community is pretty unified in their assessment of the data and the evidence.

It is said that someone who acts as their own lawyer has a fool for a lawyer. Same applies to taking science into one’s own hands and trusting in one’s innate superior homespun theories that other wishfull
thinkers have indulged in.

On gas prices they were above the average before the start of World War 3 but that’s because of the price of oil going up. It went up mainly because consumption went way down. Around the world huge amounts of people were working at home and not traveling.
Prices were higher around the world.
But the increase was managed and it was not impacting people in a severe way.
The prices have spiked but are again not staggeringly high esp because of oil reserves.

On cars - every time it is brought up and discussed by the current administration they say that the cars will be hybrid and fully electric. There will be a choice.

Also electric cars are the future and you don’t know that when they get mass produced that they won’t be better.
And the major role they will have in fighting climate change makes them better.
I remember when people were saying why get HD tv.
Im happy with digital and HD costs more and I don’t think it is better. Those people have changed their mind.

Change is coming as long as we can have smart government. A lot will come down to that.
With all due respect, when you wrote that decreased consumption caused a price increase, was that a typo?

That would be like reverse dynamic pricing in SLB.

Setting aside other other factors that impacted fuel prices during the pandemic (like supply chain issues, regulations, etc.), shouldn't lower consumption of a product result in lower pricing? My basic understanding is that if the usage of any product decreases, then the last thing profit-seeking producers would ever do is increase the price, because this would deter sales even further. Am I missing something here?

The below link with historical fuel prices may or may not clarify how these costs have fluctuated over the last 2-3 years, and I'll leave it to everyone else to debate the causes. I'm just a third party voter with no dog in this fight.
