Well razorclams, I must say, after looking over your ’66 Dodgers I am questioning why I passed them up. Besides being a Dodgers fan, they come with a complete and balanced 4-man starting rotation to go with your choice of RP’s, C, 2B, OF’s, and a few other platoon and bench players to start you off. And rostering Koufax is certainly within the realm of possibilities for this $80M league. You’re off to a great start. Oh how can we screw thee?
With the rotation being your strength and the Dodgers not exactly offensive juggernauts, I think it is best to give you as close to the same as possible. Let’s find a team whose only strength is SP and if possible, little offensive additions.
Welcome the disappointments that made up the 1976 Atlanta Braves. They come with a nice Andy Messersmith and inning eating Phil Niekro but you’ll need to pick which Dodger pitchers to cut. Max Leon could help out in relief. Offensively you get a solid LH platoon 1B in Willie Montanez which should supplant Fairly. Past him are a few barely rosterable platoon players but no one who would get an all-star vote, not even from the most diehard home fan.
Enjoy deciding which SP’s to roster. You’re going to have a very nice starting rotation. But then again, you already were going to have one. Good luck in finding enough offensive help to fill all those roster positions.
