Thought there might be some push back. If you look at the last ten seasons of use, 1982 Yount only hit .300 once and the other nine were between .240 and .273. Pretty average to have as a keeper with a B/B fielding. He is the 25th ranked SS for all 70 seasons with a .273 BA. Though he is ranked 11th for OPS for the same time period. In hindsight I probably should have looked at that. But normally if I get those type of batting averages I need an A+ range at shortstop.
I've always wondered about his performance. thank you for breaking that out / down. Guess I should have looked closer at the past history, but hopefully in between Gwynn & Caminiti, he can outperform the past - we did have quite a need at a quality SS, don't trust the Tatis factor.
