Cup XVIII has its first Semifinalist as #11 Rushmore FC hammers the #3 seed FC Winnipeg Royal Lions 5-2 on the road and takes the series with a no-doubt 9-2 aggregate. Down 4-0, Winnipeg had to do something special at home and Firenze Széll tried to make up for his red card in the first game by scoring twice in the contest, including a header blasted into the corner of the net in the 5th minute. But, there was way too much Rushmore firepower as 5 different players marked the goal sheet, including four goals in the final 10 minutes in case the Royal Lions had any plans of mounting a last minute comeback. Nathan Wyard scored again, placing him in a tie for 2nd in individual scoring...and helped to guarantee at least two more games in which he can add to that total.

The #1 seed gets their Quarterfinals going tomorrow as well as the 2nd game of the 5/13 series.

Just like in the First Round of the playoffs, the #1 seeded Slough FC have dropped their knockout home opener, this time to #9 FC Kingston by a score of 5-3. While the stats were even, Kingston took it to the Top Dogs and scored the first four goals of the game with a hat trick by Israeli forward Benoni Händzel, who joins an increasingly crowded group of players in the Golden Toe with 10 balls netted. Slough was able to minimize the damage late, scoring three times in the last 30 minutes, including a goal on the last play of the game when Dorian Pyrtle settled a corner cross to his shooting foot and easily beat Kingston goalie Toshitsugu Nagata as the final whistle blew. The #1s will have a couple of days to figure out how to pull another rabbet out of their hat when they visit Kingston's pitch on the 22nd.

There is another quarterfinals game slated to play in a few minutes but that update will have to wait until this evening.

The concession speech above was for #5 Holbæk Idrætsforening, who took a 3-1 aggregate into the return game against #13 the crutchanators of soccer and was able to hold on to take the series 6-4 after today's 3-3 draw to advance to the Semifinals. crutchanators came out swinging as they erased the goal differential deficit by scoring the first two goals of the game off tallies by Sampo Jarvela and Leotrim Fasel but the Danish side, led by Cup veteran Jaquawn Cervantes reestablished control of the contest by scoring twice within four minutes to push the advantage back to two. While the Americans were able to get back within one at the 60 minute mark, they couldn't find the equalizer and Holbæk had long stretches of ball control to close out the game, adding some insurance in the closing moments. the crutchanators.finish Cup XVIII with another good run.

Tomorrow is an off day for the main knockouts but the Bums will see my Fußball-Club Köln 01/07 e. V. team take on Swampdragons United in North Rhine-Westphalia.

#4 Fußball-Club Köln 01/07 e. V. did what it could do playing at home against #5 SwampDragons United in today's Bums Bracket quarterfinals matchup. After a Sebastian Leal goal to end the 1st half, the Billygoats added another in the latter stages when Guardado Castilla knocked one in with 17 minutes left in regulation as the Germans won the opener 2-0. The Canadian club didn't play badly...they just couldn't make any impression on Cologne defense, which kept the ball in front of them and committed no major errors. The Dragons will get their chance to play on home soil tomorrow when the return match is scheduled.

Talking about scheduling, tomorrow has four Bums quarter games as every matchup is playing. The main draw also swings back into action as #1 Slough FC tries to stave off elimination against #9 FC Kingston.

Three Bums quarters games went final this morning and #4 Fußball-Club Köln 01/07 e. V. becomes the first team to advance to the Semifinals after defeating #5 SwampDragons United 5-3, taking the series with a 7-3 aggregate. Marcos Katz helped the Billygoats race out to a 7-1 aggregate by early in the 2nd half before the Dragons made the total more respectable. Jerrad Forko's goal in the 52nd closed out the scoring to allow Swamp U to end their tournament on a positive note. Cologne's possible opponent might be #1 Metropolitan Eagles, who shutout #9 FC Not Very Athletic 2-0 at home in the first leg of their series. The Swedes scored both goals in the 1st half, capped off by Bolek Horejsi's header in the 42nd. Athletic gets to play their home game on the 24th and will need a much better offensive performance to remain alive.

In the final Bums game this morning, #2 Not Very United trounced #7 Hardknocks F.C. 5-1. Benny Perea set the tone by scoring unassisted in the games first minute and United built a 4-0 lead before Wacleah Brownflet finally got Hardknocks on the board in the 73rd. Hardknocks does have their home game still upcoming but has dug a pretty deep hole for themselves.

There are a couple of games that are going final right now, including the #1 Slough FC/#9 FC Kingston contest in the main draw. I'll update them in an hour or so.

Really good stuff to conclude the day's action as three out of the four Semifinal slots have now been earned. In a series that was as tight as can be, #1 Slough FC was down 5-3 after the opener and needed to win on the road against #9 FC Kingston. Unwine Beckett tipped a header off the hands of Kingston goalie Toshitsugu Nagata in the 5th minute to close the gap to 5-4 but Denzel McBeth equalized before the end of the 1st half as both teams hit the break in the same situation as the game's start.

Running out of time, Slough once again scored to get within 6-5 but Alvaro Bownell got a critical goal in the 63rd that proved too much for the #1 to overcome. The lead was 8-5 before a desperation move by the Slough coaching staff pushed all players forward in a last ditch effort. Goals by Elbanco Cardenas and Takeshi Takada in the final few minutes of regulation got the Slough fan base dreaming but Kingston made a substitution in extra time...and took their time doing it. Then awarded a corner, Kingston killed the clock and never let Slough touch the ball before the referee blew the final whistle. Despite dropping a 4-3 decision, Kingston wins the series 8-7 and moves on, ending a great tournament run by top seed.

In the Bums, #6 Swamp City Dragons became the 2nd Semifinalist as they got a late goal from Arley Movsisyan to earn a draw against #3 Club Deportivo Baile Brian 1-1 and win the series 4-3. The Dragons held a 1 goal differential after the first game, which Baile Brian erased with a 51st minute header by Bannon Waldron. However, the 119 year old Canadian really didn't want to play an extra game and took matters into his own hands when he beat an offside trap to send the Irish club packing.

We now have a three-way tie atop the Golden Toe with a fourth player a single goal behind. It is looking more and more likely the top scorer award will be decided between this group of elite athletes unless someone from the 2/10 quarters matchup goes on a scoring spree.. Tomorrow is an of day so we'll resume on the 24th.

The Bums Bracket has produced its third team for the Semis as #1 Metropolitan Eagles advance over #9 FC Not Very Athletic after this morning's 1-1 draw. The Screaming Eagles held a 2-0 advantage after the first game and just needed to keep Athletic within reach on the English team's home pitch. Jovante Salomon scored in the 38th when he curved a shot over and around the arms of Eagles goalkeeper Dickie Grosskopf and the aggregate went into the half at 2-1. But, the Swedes made some adjustments to their approach and shut down the Athletic offense for the rest of the game, allowing no more dangerous looks. Then, for good measure, put a nail in it in the 78th when Erroll Schürmann found some space in the box and didn't miss to hand the series to the Metro Eagles by a final of 3-1.

The last spot in the Bums semis is this afternoon and, assuming it produces a decisive result, the Semifinals can begin tomorrow. Meanwhile, the main playoffs are off until the 26th when #2 Swampdragons FC and #10 FC Trojans of SC play both halves of their matchup on the same day.
2/24/2026 11:01 AM
The Bums Bracket Semifinals are now completely known as #2 Not Very United, which took a huge 5-1 edge into the return game against #7 Hardknocks F.C., easily held on, albeit in a much more competitive contest, to win the aggregate 8-3 after this afternoon's 3-2 victory. Hardknocks needed everything to fall their way and it simply wasn't their day as the lowercase Hungarian zigana Barabás put Not Very on the board first in the 15th minute when he scooted one into the far corner. The home club was able to equalize a few minutes later but United had too much firepower, building up a 3-1 lead on the day before Javaughn Galey gave the Hardknocks fans a positive note to end their Cup XVIII tournament on.

I'll get the Bums Semifinal bracket filled out before I go to bed and you all can start scheduling tomorrow.

The first leg of our last Quarterfinal matchup was played this morning between #2 Swampdragons FC and #10 FC Trojans of SC and the game ended with absolutely nothing decided. It was the Dragons chance to play at home and they did nothing offensively to the disappointment of the soldout crowd of 45,000, missing on all of their shots on goal. Fortunately for the Canadians, their defense was stellar and held the Trojans to a mere 4 shots, allowing goalie Issiar Fillel to effectively have the day off. With the 0-0 draw, the series moves to So Cal this evening for a winner take all...or another draw, which would send us into sudden death.
2/26/2026 10:29 AM
The final Semifinalist earned their blue highlighting this evening as a tied series was broken by a 4-2 result. Having drawn 0-0 in the match this morning, #10 FC Trojans of SC held the home court and scored the opening goal of their matchup against #2 Swampdragons FC at the 36 minute mark when Janyd McGourty weaved his way through the defense and hit a touch shot that got past goalie Issiar Fillel. The Dragons immediately responded to level at 1-1 a few minutes later with a Wingate Toal score and, after 120 minutes of playing time, the two teams were still even. All that changed in the 2nd half as the Trojans finally asserted control and scored a couple of goals before the 60 minute mark, McGourty getting his 2nd of the game, which proved to be the series-winning shot. The Dragons briefly closed within one before Gideon Kuhlman closed the door and ended a fine Swampdragons Cup run.

I'll set up the Semifinal bracket in the morning.

The Semifinals are all set as the four remaining teams are just two steps away from the biggest club hardware in FC Dynasty. The time frame to schedule the games is Feb 27th thru Mar 8th, but if a team is just about to enter rollover, we'll be flexible if you just let us know.

A bit of trivia...this is the 2nd Cup in a row that FC Kingston has made it to the Final Four and will be looking to do better than their 3rd Place bronze medal. It's also the 2nd tine in a row the #5 seed had made it to the Semis...and it worked out pretty well for FC Stratford-Upon-Avon King's Men in Cup XVII.

Best of luck to the four clubs that remain and the handful of players trying to win the L'Orteil D'or.
