Heres a scenario loosely based on my exit last night.
7 handed at the end of a $3 90 man ko. Everyone is sitting on 15-25bb no big stack no little stack. Blinds 1000-2000 with ante. No real read of anyone playing aggressive so play is pretty solid (unusual from the beginning for one of these).
Folds to the button who makes it 5500 (about 1/6 of his stack) the small blind pretty quickly pushes all in for 45000 and has you covered by less then 1k. You look down at your cards....whats your calling range? 10's?
Im not calling with AQ and probably folding AK mainly because I have most of the feild colvered and can find better spots then a race. 10s is probably a fold but at the time that looks like a huge hand considering the position the players raised from. Normally Id put the button on any two and the SB on a pretty wide range but with all the stacks evenish and no crazy action up to this point for a read?
(I had KK and went broke to AA but thats the right play. Wondering at what point calling is wrong.)
If you were at 1000/2000 blinds you are pretty deep into a SnG, so I wouldnt call with anything lower than Q's. You will have better opportunities to double up. By the way, that is the worst feeling in the world when you push with K's to see A's turned over.
