OK, so I present the thought process of a far less informed source:
-Kevin Garnett-I felt like I was picking late enough that I needed a player that had a lot of minutes and could cover several bases. The 4 players I was thinking of leading up to the pick were Wade, Erving, Duncan, and KG.
-Karl-Anthony Towns-Somwhere leading up to this pick, I decided I was going in the direction of making 3's. I may not be able to out think anyone, but every once in a while I may out shoot them. Obviously, he leaves a season empty but I figured I could fill one season later on and he gives me good to very good for 4 years.
-Draymond Green-"He makes everyone else better." This gets said about him a lot. Him being available here felt like a win.
-Anfernee Hardaway-This pick essentially sealed my overall gameplan. On a semi-even talent playing field, I'm not going to be able to outgame just about all of you. I decided that going top heavy with a few teams was my best chance to have a chance. I did not believe Penny would make it back around to me, so I pulled the trigger.
-Reggie Miller-Was dead set on taking the best 5 season bomber left on the board. To me, this was it.
-Shane Battier-My picks didn't get much reaction throughout the draft, but he was compared to fiber. When I think of fiber, I think of something that firms up your crap. So if he does that, I made a good pick here.
-Elvin Hayes-Basically, he was taken to be a high usage scoring threat for the 1 KAT-less squad. That team will be different than the other 4, but maybe that isn't a bad thing.
-Peja Stojakovic-Make 3's at a high rate. I ask nothing more of you.
-John Havlicek-I had been debating taking him for at least 4 rounds. eFG% not special, but he gives better than OK D and offers so many minutes at several positions. He will have 5 different roles and should be able to handle them all with success.
-JJ Redick-See Peja, he has a message for you.
-Matt Bonner-Expect him to take literally less than 100 shots total for the 5 leagues. But they all better be 3's and he'd better make 45+ of them.
-Jermaine O'Neal-Could have taken just about anyone at this point, but he seemed way too useful to just leave out there.
As it shook out, I feel like I have 1 very good team, 1 pretty good team, 2 functional teams that could go either way depending on where they get matched up, and 1 team that will have a hard time competing.
