Rookie second baseman Dan Uggla is the only Spectre to make the All Star team.

The Spectres will start the second half of the season at home, hosting the Milwaukee Bears.
10/19/2010 11:00 PM
Game 82: The Spectres hit three home runs but are unable to score outside of the longball; Milwaukee's Ernest Leif hits a ninth-inning grand slam that turns a close game into a 9-4 laugher for the Bears.

Game 83: Kelvim Escobar produces a quality start and the Spectre bullpen throws three blank frames as they beat Milwaukee 9-2. Carl Crawford scores three times; Carlos Delgado drives in three runs.

Game 84: Milwaukee takes the series with a 4-2 win behind Carlos Silva, who walks none in seven innings of work, evening his record at 6-6.

The Spectres now face interleague matchups with Seattle, Atlanta, and Chicago.
10/20/2010 10:52 PM (edited)
Game 85: The Spectres chase Adam Wainwright with a four-run second inning and get four scoreless innings from the bullpen in a 9-1 win over the Emeralds.

Game 86
: Carl Crawford has four hits and two stolen bases, and Melvin Mora drives in three as the Spectres win at Seattle 7-5, with Ryan Dempster throwing a scoreless ninth for his 14th save.

Game 87: Kelvim Escobar finds too much of the strike zone at Atlanta, walking none but allowing 11 hits in six innings as the Sexy Farmers win 6-2.

Game 88: The Farmers put up two crooked numbers, in the sixth and seventh innings, and that's enough to top the Spectres in Montreal, 5-4.

Game 89
: The bullpen chokes away another game as AJ Burnett and Ryan Dempster combine to allow two runs in the ninth as the White Sox rally for a 6-5 win.

Game 90: The Spectres score four times in the first and keep the pressure on, beating the visiting White Sox 9-4 to finish this interleague stretch even at 3-3. Carl Crawford and Dan Uggla each have four hits in four at bats.

We return to NL competition with a trip to Chicago.
10/22/2010 11:38 PM (edited)
Game 91: Even a top-of-the-ninth insurance run can't prevent Torres and Dempster from blowing another save. The Bootleggers tie it with two in the ninth and eventually win 6-5 in the 12th off Tomo Ohka as the Spectre bats go silent in overtime.

Game 92: Aaron Cook takes a hard-luck loss (his 10th loss of the season) as the Spectres are shut down by Jose Contreras in a 2-1 Bootlegger win.

Game 93: Montreal gets four hits from Michael Cuddyer and four scoreless innings from AJ Burnett as they bounce back to take the series finale, 9-2. Burnett improves to 9-3 with another good relief outing.

The Spectres head to Los Angeles to face the Granny Lovers.
10/23/2010 11:17 PM (edited)
Game 94: The Spectres run into trouble in the fourth as the Granny Lovers score five times, and the Montreal bats are silent after that. LA wins the series opener 6-3.

Game 95: Jeremy Bonderman's RBI single starts a four-run sixth, and the Spectres hold on for a 5-2 win.

Game 96
: Jermaine Dye's grand slam puts the Granny Lovers up 6-0 in the second inning. Montreal rallies gamely, but strands men at the corners in the ninth and falls 7-6.

We head back home to face St. Louis.
10/24/2010 11:17 PM (edited)
Game 97: Aaron Cook has another disastrous outing, failing to get out of the first inning, and the Spectres dig a huge early hole (down 8-0 after one and a half innings) before making things somewhat respectable in a 10-6 loss.

Game 98: When Jake Westbrook can't make it out of the fifth, AJ Burnett is there to vulture his 10th win of the season as Montreal topples the Cthulu 6-2. Carlos Delgado and Dan Uggla hit home runs for the victors.

Game 99: Montreal explodes for five runs in the first... and adds five more in the second. Delgado and Uggla go deep again, joined in this game by Geoff Jenkins, and the Spectres cruise to an 11-1 win. Jake Westbrook goes eight innings for the win.

The Spectres now travel back to the West Coast to face San Francisco.
10/25/2010 10:33 PM (edited)
Game 100: Montreal, nursing a 3-2 lead, scores an insurance run in the ninth when Carl Crawford leads off with a single, steals second, and races home on Melvin Mora's hit. That proves important as Brandon Lyon and Ryan Dempster combine to allow a Frisco run in the bottom half, but Dempster gets the final out to preserve the victory.

Game 101: Aaron Cook has another early exit, allowing five runs in the third, and the Niners even the series with a 6-3 win.

Game 102: CC Sabathia limits the Spectres to two hits over eight innings, but one of those hits is Melvin Mora's third-inning home run. That proves to be enough for Montreal, as Jake Westbrook throws eight shutout innings and Brandon Lyon pitches a clean ninth for the save.

Back to .500, the spectres head home to face Cincinnati.
10/26/2010 6:14 PM (edited)
Game 103: Ramon Hernandez hits two of Montreal's five home runs and Jeremy Bonderman gets his tenth win as the Spectres roll to a 13-3 win over the Stingers and their overworked bullpen.

Game 104: Chad Bradford and Brandon Lyon choke up a two-run lead in the ninth, but Montreal prevails when Carlos Delgado blasts a two-run homer in thebottom half to give the Spectres a 6-4 win. It's Delgado's 27th longball of the season.

Game 105: Carl Crawford homers for the second straight game and drives home the lead run in the eighth. When  Ryan Dempster pitches a perfect ninth, the Spectres have an 8-7 win. It's Dempster's 16th save; Salomon Torres improves to 2-6 with the win.

The Spectres head to Houston next.
10/27/2010 11:00 PM (edited)
Game 106: Aaron Cook has a quality start for a change and Carl Crawford comes off the bench to hit a pinch hit home run, the third straight game he's homered, as the Spectres win in Houston 4-3. Brandon Lyon allows a run in the ninth but still emerges with his fourth save.

Game 107: Ramon Hernandez has four hits, including two doubles and a home run, driving in three, as the Spectres down Houston 5-4. Ryan Dempster allows three hits but strikes out three in the ninth for the save.

Game 108: Jeremy Bonderman throws eight scoreless innings before allowing a two-run homer to Brian McCann in the ninth. He still walks away with a complete game win, 5-2 over the Lone Stars.

Montreal will host San Diego next.
10/28/2010 10:35 PM (edited)
Game 109: Ramon Hernandez has another two-double game, and a bases loaded walk to Ken Griffey Jr. gives the Spectres the eventual winning run in a 4-2 victory. Chad Bradford pitches a scoreless ninth for his first save.

Game 110: The Conquistadors hit eight doubles (and seven singles) as they pummel Aaron Cook on the way to a 7-4 victory. Cook ends the day with a 6-13 record and a 6.66 ERA. Rookie Dan Uggla hits his 25th homer for the Spectres, reaching 90 RBI.

Game 111: Steve Trachsel throws seven shutout innings, the Spectre bullpen collapses late, and Montreal manages only a solo homer by Ken Griffey Jr. as they drop the rubber match of the series, 8-1.

We now must travel to Milwaukee to face the Bears (68-43).
10/29/2010 11:20 PM (edited)
Game 112: After shutting out the Bears for seven innings, Jeremy Bonderman tires, and he leaves in the eighth with one run in and two on base. Salomon Torres enters and promptly loads the bases before allowing a grand slam to Eric Chavez that gives Milwaukee a 5-4 lead. The Spectres regain the lead in the ninth as Khalil Greene homers to tie it and an error by Nick Johnson later allows Carlos Delgado to score. But once again the Spectre bullpen collapses; Ryan Dempster walks three batters in the ninth and the Bears rally to win it, 7-6.

Game 113: Michael Cuddyer and Carlos Delgado hit two homers each as the Spectres beat Milwaukee 7-4 to even the series. AJ Burnett vultures another win, improving to 11-3.

Game 114: Montreal wastes a quality start by Aaron Cook, not even scoring a run in a 3-0 shutout loss to Milwaukee.

The Spectres return home to face the Bootleggers.
10/30/2010 11:10 PM (edited)
Game 115: Three Spectre pitchers combine on a 5-hit shutout of the Bootleggers, and Ramon Hernandez hits an eighth inning homer to make it a 1-0 victory.

Game 116: Montreal tries out its new strategy of scoring one run a game again, but it is less successful this time. Chicago gets RBI hits from Orlando Cabrera and Chipper Jones in the eighth to beat the Spectres 2-1.

Game 117: The Spectres leave nothing to chance in the series finale, scoring four times in the first and four more in the sixth on the way to a 14-0 blowout of the Bootleggers. Kelvim Escobar throws seven scoreless innings to improve to 8-6. Ken Griffey Jr. and Ramon Hernandez go deep.

Montreal hosts division leader Philadelphia (84-33) next.
