I believe they are changing chit behind the scenes and not for the better. Injuries, recoveries and drops in ratings with high budgets being the ones I have noticed. It makes me rethink upping every season.
Making significant changes to a game engine without providing patch notes is inexcusable.

The one that we know they changed was one that I didn't know existed until they changed it -- the arbitration loop hole where you could offer arb3 and a long term contract in separate windows and get an extra year of control out of a player.

There have been rumors that they did away with the injury recovery (high medical budget/high makeup rating) trick where a guy gets injured and you put him on the 60-day DL vs. the 7-day or the 15-day DL and he gets two recovery bumps. However, they didn't get rid of it because I have seen it done recently with players. They may have tweaked it so it doesn't work as often, but they certainly didn't get rid of it.

The one above regarding the draft [comp picks] was interesting because it would seem that drafts would run exactly like they always do unless there is some type of tinkering going on in the background. But it only hit one World. There was another World where the draft was on the exact same day and it didn't happen to that World. If they were tinkering, did they just choose one World and not the other? i don't know.

I also know that they added a little pop up whenever your team has games that don't run. I don't think this affects the game at all, I think it was an attempt to make their jobs easier by hoping that people would not put a ticket in as soon as a game didn't run. What else have they really changed though? I am in agreement that any major changes need to have patch notes, but the arbitration loop hole above should not have existed anyway.

the last HBD dev chat was in 2016. This is about a year and a half before I started playing the game. I just gave it a read and there is some promising stuff in it. It's too bad that none of this stuff got implemented.

I questioned support and they said they made no changes. That leads me to believe it was not intended to change so may have as a result of another change.

I decided to try the arb loophole for the first time a couple of months ago, and got burned. I guess I'll enjoy the type A compensation picks. :-(

At least I'm getting a true first rounder out of it

Anyone know how simmy decides which team gets priority when assigning compensation picks? One team signed my guy, Zip
Then, much later, they signed Graham and Juan
Thinking that I was being comped for Zip, I went ahead and signed Patrick.
Now I may be kicking myself, because right now (before the appearance of the draft prospects), I'm getting a 3rd for Zip

Draft order (worst to best record), then Type A before type B, and second and third supplemental picks after first supplemental picks. So--

You lose three type As, and another team with a better record than you loses a type A and a type B.
The supplemental picks go-- you (for the first type A), him (for his first type A), you (for your second type A), you (for your third type A), him (for his type B).

You have a bad record, and you sign two type As. Your second rounder goes to the team, between the two whose type As you signed, who had the worse record; your 3rd rounder goes to the team with the better record of those two.

In your actual case, the Phillies got the 1st rounder because they had a worse record than you or the Nationals; the Nationals got the second rounder because they had a worse record than you, and you got the third rounder.

That cover it, or did I miss something?

I think that's correct, but also Draft order doesn't finalize until the Amateur Draft Prospects come out. So I wouldn't fully trust what you see now (I believe it just goes based off who was signed first, and then when the prospects come out it corrects).

I learned that tie breakers in the draft are different than tie breakers in playoff berth. The draft is based on scoring margin then total runs scored. I got double screwed a couple seasons ago by having the better scoring margin, but the worse division record so I lost the tie breaker and missed the playoffs then the next season the division winner got the better pick.

It's been years since I played, so I would appreciate a refresher from somebody - If a player hits arb 3 times and refuses to sign a long term contract, will he accept a long term offer from another team if he is traded? Or is he still committed to testing FA even after a trade to a new team. Thanks for any help!

I'll trade you an answer to this for your advice on D2 Hoops Dynasty recruiting.

Seriously... I've seen both outcomes reported to this forum; so it can happen but it's not guaranteed.

It can happen but it's not guaranteed is, as in many cases with this game, the correct answer.

Thanks guys, and dedelman if you have questions by all means send me a sitemail, happy to share!

More often than not, the player will sign a long term deal once he is traded.
