Liar.  You said you were rooting for the Sharks this year.
Actually I said I would root for the Blackhawks (during playoffs) if they finish higher than the 4th seed.  But thank God that aint going to happen.........lol

For the first time ever, I am not watching a Flames game tonight for no reason other than I have something better to do, like watch paint dry.

I dont mind the team losing... its part of what has to happen for the Flames management to wake up and get rid of the Sutters... but they are so frikken brutal to watch now... dump and chase... work the corners... they havent been the most exciting team in past years.. but at least they had hits and fights and tough guys.. rivalries could build.... now its just a dream to wish for a good shift

I have been excited for one game this year, Toronto (Phionas return only), other than that... I have suffered through many games on the TV (with the help of PVR) and turned down countless free tickets...

This organization needs to smarten up... if your going to lose, put a product on the ice that can entertain me the fan... look up north at edmonton... they at least have some players who give the fans a reason to watch as they struggle... season tickets are seriously being considered cancelled.

After that pair of TERRIBLE games against the Wild...I'll have to revise my earlier statement. This team is no longer stuck in neutral, they have found REVERSE!!!!

i can't believe daryl sutter still had a job by the start of the season.  i'm not sure it's the fans that have a hard on for him (everyone i know thinks he should be fired), but rather the owners.  i think pretty much any other franchise would have booted his *** by now.  as for brent sutter, i'm not sure my opinion of him.  he's not really getting the job done, but he also hasn't been given a lot to work with.  it's hard to judge him for some of the crap daryl's thrown onto the roster.  still, a good coach should be able to adapt to get more out of the players, even the ****** ones.  i think a complete overhaul is the only option.  and hopefully the next GM will be able to fix the flames.  not sure it can be done in under three years though.  and by then, two of our biggest assets are done here.  kipper and iggy.  the most likely scenario is both getting traded either before the trade deadline, or in the offseason.  :{

oh, but we might want to also hire some more scouts for the next couple drafts.  looks like we'll have a decent position.  :>

Interesting article... even if it has virtually no chance of happening.. then we dont have to worry about drafting

I like the Kipper trade idea! It does make sense from both Flames POV and Lightening POV... but with Sutter a trade like that has NO CHANCE of happening

I dont think Smith's knee injury helps that... I like Kings deal a lot too... but, I dont think the Kings would give up that much... other guys think the Kings would do it in a hearbeat

Yep as much as both Kipper & Iggy are basically the 'face' of this franchise..at some point you have to say "this is not working"....

In the article in describes Sutter's recently moves rather accurately as "desperation..an attempt to save his job..." Whenever a GM does that, it has NEVER been a good thing for the team. Though in my opinion..his deperates move go back a ways to the Bouwmeister signing..   (Bouwmeister signing, Jokinen deal, Maple Leaf Trade, Ranger deal, Jokinen resigning.....)  The ONLY thing Sutter has done right over the past 3 seasons..bring Tanguay back. Other than that..

I don't know about the King trade though while it would vault them into the elite of the Western Conference... are they willing to put all their eggs into one basket with the goaltending duties (like Montreal had too)? Also, I think Iggy's stock is not quite it used to be really..

Wonder if Yzerman will leave well enough alone? When was the last time Tampa had  twice as many wins as losses?Wonder if hed want to get  rid of Malones grit and mess with the current team Chemistry?

True BUT when they won the Cup a few seasons ago...they had a goalie that could win a game or two or three for them.  You need that in the playoffs.  At present, they don't have anything remoting close to that.  Also the defence is not very good in it's own end.  Sarich and Kipper would help in both of those departments..  If they go into the playoffs with what they have now..they will not even get past the 1st round.  The old saying, you have to give up something to get something..(though with Sutter as GM I'm not really sure that applies).  Also, how many elite goalies are out there teams are willing to deal??  The Lightening are is desperate need of one!

I agree aginor, just worried that they might worry to much bout chemistry and be over cautious.

i like it.  i don't really like giving up sarich and regher, as they are both great defensive d-men, but as they say, you have to give up something to get something.  as for iginla and kipper, i love them, but they are aging assets and the flames aren't getting it done.  it's best to move them now while they still have value, and it's good for  them too to maybe move to an actual contender, instead of a lottery pick contender.  :>

i'd go further back than that aginor.  sutter's real first blunder came when he sent a great defensive d-man who was locked up for three years at a more than reasonable salary along with a an aggressive grinder / checker (ference and kobasew) to boston for a piece of crap offensive d-man who stuck around for five minutes before signing in detroit and a player whose only value was in the fact that he could take faceoffs and play more than one position.  none of them well.  (stuart and primeau).  not only was it a stupid move in the first place, but that deadline deal screwed with the chemistry as well, and possibly lead to the early playoff exit.  :>
