He's putting up some Old Hoss Radbourn-type numbers. In terms of volume, at least.

He makes a good mopup guy but that is about all lol. Player Profile: Joe Knight - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

Wow-- what the hell do you do with a guy who can pitch 350-400 innings of slightly better than league average ball (career ERA = 4.15 in Fargo (AL))? On a contender he's typically be your worst or second-worst pitcher, so I'm not sure how you get him all 400 of your lowest leverage innings without accidentally getting him in over his head in high-leverage situations. OTOH he's going to be too expensive for a team trying to get to 60 wins, even though he'd be a dream for them if affordable.

Maybe, if I'm a contender, I sign him and try to run 10 or even 9 pitchers, and make my position players better and deeper...

Id keep him as a mopup with a pull rating of 1 if I could afford to but given his overall id likely trade him for someone more useful. Ive never seen this kinda guy.

I'd use him as a mopup, set him to come in any time we're up or down by four, and try to run a ten-man staff. Basically try to get him to eat all the low-leverage innings. But the salary he'd demand would almost certainly outweigh the benefits of carrying one or two extra bench bats.

Yeah I find him interesting just in all the player types I've seen I've never once come across a combo remotely close to that.

He'd be great pre-arb for a rebuilding/younger team eating innings, but with a contract I'm not sure. Maybe use him as an opener? You could probably set him to 40/40 pull of 5 and literally pitch him every other day if not sometimes 2 days in a row lol. I guess that would only really be useful if you had a ton of lefties to bring in after him.

Well someone gave him 10/mil a year, so I guess they value him a little more than we do lol.

That guy plays in my division in Glavine. He has been on the Cy Young voting list every season. I assume it is due to counting stats and innings pitched.

Also, if I was rebuilding, i would put him as my LRA and try to have Left handed starting pitching/openers. The left handed starting pitching will lure out more right handed hitting.

If I was in rebuild mode I’d be curious if he could open every or every other game with a pull of 5. Never seen a player like that before.

Ok sorry one more since it’s the same league Player Profile: Irv Williams - Hardball Dynasty Baseball | WhatIfSports

90+ vl, 70+ vr, decent pitches, velocity, gb, 99 stamina and... 9 control. I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen a pitcher with such drastic differences like that. @tlowster what did they put in the water in this league lol

The most amazing combination of low OAV and high WHIP... a K/BB ratio of almost 1:1. Magnificent.

And he got drafted in the 1st round yikes

This brings up another question: what's the lowest control you'd ever consider using? Like, you've got a guy with 80+ splits, 90+ velo and GB, good pitches, good stam/dur—how low do you go on control? Personally I've had success with relievers as low as 40 or so, but I would never go below 60 for a starter.
