Brewers : Back in First Place Topic

Though Keith Law reports other GMs are saying the Brewers have pulled Fielder and Hart off the market because they feel they're still close enough to make a run, the message apparently didn't get through to the clubhouse, as the Brewers are shut out in Houston to start a weekend of misery.

Kind of interesting in a black comedy sort of way and kind of depressing:

Brewers have new pitching plan

At least you only have to change 1 word in the thread title today.

Though the Giants reportedly made a late run at Corey Hart, Doug Melvin stuck to his guns and the Brewers made NO. MOVES. AT. ALL.

Because we're in this thing!!!

Reading the comments from the Brewers front office about the lack of moves is pretty depressing.. not interested in minor league prospects.. more interested in what can impact the team right now... same old mentality that led to throwing Nelson Cruz into the Carlos Lee deal so that we could get "proven major league" talent back like Kevin Mench. Because only "proven major league" talent can play in the major leagues.

Not sure what they think they're going to get back for Prince Fielder, but if they want a major league pitcher it's going to be one with either a ton of money left or a very short window of team control left, neither of which improves the long-term outlook of the franchise. Nobody's giving up Tommy Hanson or Madison Baumgarner for a one-year rental.

Astros going thru a rough period sans Berkman & Oswalt;  it is nice to see the Brew Crew in town to re-kindle our spirits with back-to-back shut outs.

Still in this thing! Only a week and a half away from 1st place!

Hells yeah! Here we come!

After failing to trade Corey Hart, and one day after announcing that Mat Gamel was going to start playing right field in the minors to help the team prepare for the eventual departure of Hart/Fielder in free agency (or trade), the Brewers announced that Hart has been signed to a three-year extension through 2013. No terms revealed yet.

Buster Olney reports Hart's extension is for $26.5M over three years.

What a whuppin'! 18-1. Prince has five hits and five RBI.

Embarrassing that, entering the game, Aramis had more RBI this season than Prince.

What's so embarassing?  A-Ram is a damn good hitter and he deserves a lot more respect than he gets.
8/3/2010 12:33 PM
um, ARam missed a bunch of time with injuries and is hitting .220.

oh snap!
