2009-2010 Preview League (FULL) Topic

As I understand it, I can draft one "rookie". So I would like to take 69-70 Doug Mohns to be renamed Matt Beleskey.

Anaheim is $20.6 million under budget.

Sorry for all the posts but I will take Columbus as a second team. While their defence is suspect, adding a "rookie" may solidify things.

Maximum salary is $73 million

Tampa is at 76mil and will need to draft from the unwanted 6 teams
9/15/2009 6:27 PM
LA cap is 57 million, and I to will be attending the draft

Hopefully I'll have time tomorrow to research on which players to rename what for both my teams.

tonysmith, the Sharks are yours.

brouhaha, the Ducks and Blue Jackets are yours.

No rush on the name changes, they are done after the season starts.

Also, a quick note about the draft - you can only draft from an unchosen team's real players. No grabbing those 3mil prospects!

Is the $80million cap (to be eligible for the equalization draft) based on the maximum salary possible or the salary your team happens to have (i.e. I did not always pick the highest salaried player).

And do we include the $3 million rookie in the calculation?

The last 3 teams may be hard to find - FLA, EDM and DAL look ok.

Yep, you have to include the 3mil prospect in your calculations. Originally, I had set the bar that it's the highest-salary player that counts, but if you want to deliberately handicap the rest of your team in order to pick up an extra player in the draft, I suppose that can be up to you!

winnerpeg - yep, you can draft one player up to a value of 3mil per team to represent the stats of an upcoming prospect. In keeping with the league rules, the name you change it to must be on the nhlnumbers.com site.
Ok, different question then:

regarding "must be on the nhlnumbers.com site", how about if the team's official website's transactions page mentions the signing/resigning of a player but your site hasn't yet? (I know of at least 1 example for the Predators)?

Should be up on the site soon, and if not, I'll let the sitemaster know. Which player was it...?

Well, you DID say that the prospects MUST be from retired players!

(which is not the "draft";)

winnerpeg - Ben Guite IS on the NHLnumbers site, so feel free to use him. His contract amount is unknown (TBA on NHLnumbers), but he is under contract for this season.

Ahhh, k.

I guess I was under the mistaken assumption that players with TBA$ were also off-limits.

I posted a 500,000 goalie (Mike Morrison) to replace Crawford In net... Is that acceptable? My team Is Chicago.
