But what happens if the other 1902 team decided they wanted to trade ahead of you and take him? I would think we can only pick ahead if nobody else can possibly take your player.

I don't understand the people picking ahead of their slots rule. Both Addie Joss and Joe DiMaggio are eligible for other teams so those teams could make a deal to trade for the spots ahead of the guys that have been selected.

well 1987 could not have drafted joe Dimaggio

and addie joss is available only 1902-1910 and no one in the first round could draft them.

CrazyJoe there is only my team in the 1902 year

Yes, but in the case of Addie Joss if the other 1902 team wanted him bad enough they could trade into a spot ahead of the Giants and pick him. The same with DiMaggio...

Late pick 87 Tigers select Roger Clemens-P

There is no other team that could pick Joss, I am the only one in the time frame of when Joss played besides teal_leo and I pick before him

Yes, but he could trade with one of the people that have a draft slot before your pick and select him. For instance if he came to me (or anyone else in the rest of the first round) with an awesome deal, I could trade my pick to him and then he could use that pick to select Joss. This is why I don't think you should be able to pick ahead of your slot unless you pick someone who is absolutely not eligible for any other team.

but the pick he would trade would have to be his second pick and I pick my second pick before him

Huh?? Why would that matter? He could trade one of his players to some team for their First Round Pick and then use that pick to select Joss. Not saying that it will happen, but it could.

I know if the 1969 A's or 1968 Mets posted their pick early and it was a guy that I was seriously targeting I would go ahead and try my best to trade above them to get that player.

if he could be selected by another team then he couldn't be pre-drafted. I guess someone could trade a pick and get him then we will deal with it. It's a risk in doing that

crazyjoe02 you are up by the way.

I second crazyjoe on this one. I'd like to see it taken a step further and have no picking ahead of the draft order, even if the player is exclusive. We're just asking for trouble. Nikospade can't be expected to keep a 24-7 update of the draft, so you'll always be having to sift through the draft forum and figure out who last drafted in order and who is jumping ahead.

If you can't make a pick, there are lots of active owner who can act as proxy. Let's just stick to drafting in order and keep it simple.

I agree. Let's stick with picking in order. We can always use proxies for each other.
