To get back on topic, this got buried a little bit back on page 4 I think, but has anyone won titles running all the different offenses and defenses?

I've won running Flex/Triangle/Motion and Man/Press/Zone. I've never had a Fastbreak team in all my seasons of HD, so that stops me from claiming all seven O's and D's, but surely someone has gotten titles with them all. Right? Not trying to imply anything about anyone here, but in my book, being able to win titles with different teams running different O's and D's is as impressive (if not more) than running up a string of titles using the one glitchy defense (and we all know which defense that is. It's way too strong right now. If it wasn't, we wouldn't have everyone switching to it).

So, can anyone claim all seven O's and D's?

Oh, and hey Brian, please don't get too upset and take any of this personally. I'm just running my head like I'm prone to do from time to time. I certainly don't want any personal animosity built up between us and believe me when I say that I, and all the other ACC coaches, would be glad if you were able to take over the Hokies. It would be great to have another good, quality coach in the conference! :^)

I've got at least a Final Four with each...

I dont take it personally it is after all just a game. Im up for the challenge and the more I look at it the better it looks I always wondered what it would be like with an actual recruiting budget! lmao Furry has been nothing but helpful in helping me learn as with billie G, baloochow and recently zhawks. In fact until I had billieG's help i never won a title then I got a few just like that. Basically Im saying thanks to these coaches for helping me.

xactly I had been to final fours and e8's but he was very generous and helped me get those titles. I cannot say it was just him all those other guys helped me also. A mentor is a great thing to have I played alot of seasons without one and its always a good Idea to have another prospective. Im open to help all that ask me and I am far from a great coach.

Criteria for qualification:

1. 15 NT bids

2. .667 or higher winning percentage in the NT (average Sweet 16 appearance per NT bid)

3. 10 or more drafted players (this was more to sort out the DI coaches versus other levels than as a quanitfier of good coaching).

The results:

Naismith - Clone77, nfet, pottle, ttnorm, meany27, combalt, oldresorter, AceCards, ralinghaus

Wooden - cmthieme, jlovicz, kgoat, fairbanka, schuyler, airjare

Crum - urdanick, jason5, uscalvin, bluespruce, rds_lsu, taz21, oldman, kelby03, lwbraun, wisefella99 and colorblind79

Surprisingly, this pretty simple formula provides a very exclusive list of coaches and ones that would be hard to argue against being great based upon their success.

I like this idea (because it includes my name, heh), so let's see what it's like in Smith, the other world I can see.

jimmybosox, petec, oldresorter, mswilso2, jleo, cpkung, and liamsar

(I miss the cut there by 1 NT game. ajcrawford misses the cut by 2 NT appearances. Some other people are in the same boat I am, but I'm not researching further.)

And Phelan.

Don't get me wrong either, brian. I wish you the best of luck, I was just pointing out that unless you've been there, you can't really say with the confidence that you and furry have, that it is simple. Can it be done, yes, and I hope you do, but it ain't easy.

For the record, I'd put pottle up there in that 12 team conference.

In Phelan it is Tanner, LM2, Zhawks, Pakeli and yours truly Davey Mac (although I am right at .667)

A Petec sighting!!! No list of all-time greats would be complete without the great Petec. Funniest guy to EVER post on these boards....and it ain't even close.

Petec knows how to treat the ladies.

ps, Maj_resorter needs a shout out here because he won an HD and a GD championship on the SAME DAY

tier 1 is coaches who have played against themselves in a championship game. all others can fight for scraps.
