swamphawk's Justifications For His Racism Topic

The reason I am not a hypocrite is the situations are different.

Your claim that liar has only one meaning in your opinion allows you to make a claim about me.

I was only trying to dispute a claim you made about me.

I had a lower standard of proof.

I only had to show that some people use my definition, you had to prove that your definition was the primary one accepted by society.

Four lies in that post. Good job!

So that people do not forget what your basis for me being a liar is let me refresh.

You believe that if a person says that they have a dollars worth of change in their pocket, and they believe that, and it turns out they had 2 dollars, that they lied.

This definition means that people lie all the time.

He then stated that people who lie may not be liars.

He has a very tough standard to be called a liar, but a very easy standard for something to be called a lie.

If someone says something that is not true, then they have told a lie. Calling a statement a lie does not say anything about the motives or character of the person who said it -- it merely points out that the statement is not true. That's not my definition, it's the dictionary definition. If you have a problem with it, take it up with the ******* English language.

On the other hand, calling someone a liar does say something about their motives and character, which is why I'm reluctant to do it. That is my personal usage of the word, and I've never claimed it was anything else, nor have I ever claimed that was the only definition of the word.

You lie so often that I should probably come up with a different word, really. Calling you a liar is an insult to liars.

I will go to my grave saying that you cannot tell a lie by accident. Lying is a concious act. It isnt a dictionary issue, as there are multiple definitions of the word in a dictionary.

And I am bothered by the fact that you are liberal on lie, but conservative on liar. I guess in reality that part does not really matter.

And I am still not a liar.

I just realized how perfect an illustration of what I'm talking about your pocket change example is.

If we go to the store to buy snacks, and in line for the counter I ask you how much money you have on you and you say, "I've got about a buck in change", I'll probably say "OK, gimme the buck and I'll cover the rest."

If we then walk out of the store and you say, "Oh, wait, I want a Coke" and pull out another dollar for the Coke machine, my reaction is going to be "Dude, WTF did you lie to me?" because it seems like you're just being a cheap *******.

If back in the store you'd instead said "I think I have about a buck in change", and then outside said "Wait, I've got another dollar in my jacket pocket... you want it or can I grab a Coke?" I'll just say "Don't worry about it, grab the Coke." because you were clearly stating an opinion and opinions can be wrong.

And if for six ******* years you pull that same **** on me by claiming you have less money than you actually do when it comes time to pay for something, I'm going to start calling you a liar. Because you ******* are.

It took you 2 days to twist that story enough to make it fit?

I have a story. A guy is discussing politics in a forum. Another guy starts talking to him. They are clearly of very different political views.

After a while the one starts calling the other one names. The first one thinks its cute and ignores it.

The other one starts a serious campaign to get him branded by that name.

Fucktard, Liar, Racist....etc.

This is your bit. This is how you need to deal with me.

You will fail!

You suck at storytelling.
6/16/2011 7:19 PM
It was a great story. It shows a sad little man who cannot grasp the nuances of the world around him. Someone is standing up and challenging his beliefs.

Instead of talking honestly with this person you choose to attack and try to isolate him from the majority.

Your trying to paint me as stupid and evil worked with some of your hard core left wing buddies, but for the most part you just made me more powerful.

No, it was a terrible story. The characters were under-developed. They didn't even have names, for pity's sake. There was no detail or color. There was no plot. There wasn't even an ending.

You might be worse at storytelling than you are at comedy.

Comedy....

Anton and Swamp walk into a bar together. The bartender says "what would you like".

Anton responds by explaining to the bartender that he used the improper form of the question  and since he asked it the wrong way he is a liar.

After listening to Anton for 3 hours he kills himself.....

I just realized it isnt my humor or storytelling, it is the fact that the subject is you and you are a limited one dimensional subject.
6/17/2011 1:25 PM
That sucks as a story or as a joke.

Plus, I'd ask him what rums he had.
6/18/2011 10:37 AM
I think it was a decent story and joke. More of an indie feel.

Rum to what end?
6/18/2011 12:56 PM
You said we walked into a bar, and then aren't sure what I'd do with rum?

I'm now leaning towards "insane".
6/18/2011 1:29 PM
No. I meant why would you ask what Rum he had. Are you picky about Rum or is it just a way to indicate that Rum is your drink of choice?
