i hate Karl and MJ......for this league. i can count on one hand the guys that you absolutely need, based on salary, 3 pt shooting, rebounding, etc., in the 2nd and 3rd in order to make a Karl or MJ team work, and that limits your options. Barkley and Bird are both cheaper, and Durant is a really good passer and rebounder at the 2 or 3. I just think that lower salary guys increase your options, and higher salary guys limit them, which is a problem if you draft in the end of the 2nd/top of the 3rd. just my strongly felt opinion.

for what it's worth, MJ hasn't won a championship in the last 30 ODL seasons. Karl has won two, but in those he had Tyson and Parish next to him
There are plenty of players that would work on a MJ or Karl team. After drafting either of those two, you don't need to be concerned about usage for your other 4 starters. Maybe MJ hasn't won a title in the last 30 ODL seasons because those teams aren't built correctly.

i don't think there are plenty. i think there are a few. i think you almost certainly need Derek Harper, Kevin Love, (some guards that haven't been drafted yet), Kawhi Leonard or Charlie Ward with your 2nd or 3rd round picks. at that point you're short on one major category, and.......well, i've said it a bunch of times.

results are evidence. in five seasons, i haven't seen an MJ team make the playoffs. when that happens, i'll concede it. until then, i need proof. sound fair?

In the last ODL, the 2nd and 3rd round picks on the MJ team were McAdoo and Noah (I think Tyson Chandler and Terry Porter, for example, would have been better picks). Of the four players you mentioned, Leonard is probably the only one I'd draft at the end of the 2nd/beginning of the 3rd to pair with MJ. I used the 39% usage, 49.1% eFG Kobe and won over 50 games in a ODL a while back (MJ obviously has much better seasons than that Kobe season, but the team building concepts are similar).

My CREB% in my starting 5 is 137. I have 3 fairly high usage guys at 54-55% EFG. TOs could be an issue. Fouls could bet an issue, D isn't elite... I had a planned mapped out, that would have been more traditional- more 3s, better D, a better rebounder at SF, fewer TOs.. But I thought I could pair Odom with Moncrief- which would've made me slightly better than my original plan..I think... But Moncrief went in before my 2nd 5th round pick and I decided that English would give me great EFG, over 43% OREB, and some other small perks... But he does come with baggage.. So- Maybe my original 2 5th round targets that I had in mind since the 2nd round- that are still on the board- would've been a better option...

Meh. Don't like my team. Doing this on vacation on a phone sucks. Oh well. Game on.

BDS seems to be high on D Harper...All things considered, T Brandon is better in the SIM than D Harper. I understand Harper has a better efg by about 3 percentage points, but that can't be your main focus. I've used them both quite a bit, and Brandon's better overall. And honestly, every time I've used him, he's outperformed his RL efg- usually by quite a bit.

Why on earh would I want 27% usage 50% efg Brandon taking away shots from Shaq?
4/13/2016 1:20 PM
i wouldn't mind that, but Harper's great for a couple of reasons: 1) he's cheap, 2) 53.9 eFG%, 3) high A/T ratio, 4) 80 D, 5) 19.6 Usg%. obviously, usage is a determining factor. if i need 27 Usage, then sure. if i don't, then Harper's a better fit.

I won't be doing any evals, but I'm thinking of doing a 10 bold predictions post again. Once the teams become visible, I'll probably do it. Might even add a post grading team names

To answer your question bds, my plan right now is to use the 85-86 Nance with 2484 min, 58% shooting, 9/19 Reb, and four usage points.

My goal is to get Barkley, Nance and Mutombo on the floor together for 30 mins a game combining for close to 57-58% eFG, and then add is the assists Rondo will generate at 39% asst percentage in his 3500+ min season and Dragic's over 55% eFG as well. I've been killed being outshot, percentage wise my last few leagues and vow to change that this season with Barkley as my 1st pick leading the way.

I wasn't talking about the specific teams. I was just speaking in general.

Brandon's TS% is better than Harper's TS%.. Which factors in FTs. Harper also commits more fouls, which is usually a problem my team building style.. I used them both fairly quite a bit in Hoosier's leagues and in other leagues and Brandon is more efficient overall in my experiences..

I'm not trying to start an argument, But BDS suggested Harper as a turn option when drafting MJ in the 1st.. Harper isn't that good to be taken in that spot was my main point. ANd I'm not saying Brandon is either- I just mentioned him for comparison purposes. I've won titles with both.. Another advantage Brandon has over Harper is 5% DReb.. Might not sound like much, But I'd much rather have a team DREB% of 85 than 80.. It actually makes a difference in my experiences.. which is all I can go by, really...
4/14/2016 12:25 AM
i really think it's a matter of usage. is Brandon better overall? in some regards, sure.

what i'm saying is that 27 is a lot. if you need 27, take Brandon. if you don't want 27, take Harper.

for example, Brandon would not fit into the team i have now over, say, Harden. Harper, however, would fit nicely in that slot.
