big thanks to ash, ben, and robusk for helping push this change through...it was loooooong overdue

would love to see them bump up jerry wests 3pt numbers and give him an efg% in the 54-58 range...itd be great to consider him in that tier with harden/mj/durant etc
The proposed formula for efg normalization would put Jerry with 6 seasons over 52 efg% and two seasons over 55.

Admin is focused on our State Farm formula next (although we thought they were doing this before the d ratings so who knows). Hopefully they get to efg normalization soon.
sounds great ben...any idea what would change with his 3pt shooting under the normalization? would his per% increase?
Looks like between 34-37 percent every year. Rob made the formula and unfortunately it can’t overcome the made-up data that wis uses, just normalizes everything by era. No change in shot distribution.

I did a lot of work on the fix for State Farm fix and the proposed shooting adjustments. But Ben gets the credit for the defensive tweaks. That was his work.

I've thought about the defensive update issue, and want to express my view here. I imagine that most people disagree with me and I know there are some personal relationships amongst more seasoned players (I am a relatively new player), but I think what Ben did here was obviously cheating - it's a shame, because he won last year, and is good enough in this platform obviously not needing to cheat. I just don't think that it is a coincidence that the person who had the most information about these changes benefited the most, specifically on Russell. I mean, he literally admitted it in his statement when he said it impacted his selection ), although he tried to soften the language. It's cheating plain and simple; my intention isn't get to into a back & forth with anyone, but to express a view that I have, and perhaps others have. Ultimately it's just a game, but just very disappointing that information was withheld from the group and used like this.

I have a feeling this is my worst team in all 6 savage seasons.
11/2/2021 8:12 PM
My 2nd best team starters are looking like

usage 112.9 (18.5 points…oops)
eFG 56
cred 122.6
ast 85
tov 13.65
def 65

I did the thing I told myself not to do. Load up on ast and 3s.

What are everyone’s early regrets?

It would have been a bad idea for Ben to say anything ahead of time.

- he had what sounds like incomplete information
- he had no certainty so if he says one thing and testing goes bad, pushing the release out until god knows when, then users are hounding admin over information that wasn’t supposed to be shared with them.

(I work for a software company and we never announce our releases until the day they come out for this reason. I can’t tell my clients about certain changes ahead of time because they might get removed as a result of bad testing outcomes.)

I think picking guys in their normal spots and not doing anything crazy is a reasonable outcome. Cheating seems like a harsh term. Fully like 100 guys changed. He can’t just not pick any of them.

That being said, you are within your right to be frustrated and I appreciate your presence and opinion. That makes for a community.

I think it is a fair point to point out that due to the uncertainty of a release point, that he should not have shared the info. But knowing the release was going to be likely in November, being told right before he made the pick that the updates were ready, is an unfair information knowledge, and cheating is the proper term. I mean, he admitted it in his statement that this information that only he had influenced his pick. He should have picked another player to make sure the integrity of the game (that we are all spending around $50 on, which for some people playing, might be a non-insignificant amount of money) was upheld.

I could be totally wrong on this and I don't know what criteria they used (the numbers), but if Jerry West was voted first team all defense at the tail end of his career, it seems to me that he would have had some first team defense seasons during his peak too.

I think you are mostly trying to be fair which I appreciate. If he would have drafted him at like 30 I would call shenanigans. But since he went where he always gets drafted, to me, it seems fine.

Might have been appropriate for Ben (and, as he was seemingly also involved, robusk, who I am mentioning solely for this purpose and not to start a conversation with him) to recuse themselves on the basis of the SIM equivalent of insider trading - but, given how we were desperately seeking bodies, this might have postponed the draft an indefinite amount of time.

We don’t need to converse to elaborate.

Fwiw, lots of people were aware the change was coming. But the amount of information on dates and scope was not the same across the board. Like I had no idea any modern players were getting updates (in retrospect I should have but missed that detail I guess) and had no contact with admin on timeline.

I am pretty sure admin didn’t tell Ben anything about dates until the draft was underway so while recusal is a good idea it might have been impossible.

Tons of players got changed. Most people getting some token benefit.
