Why would you think the Gary Payton drafted earlier was junior? In no draft I've been part of, was Gary Payton = GP Junior?

Yeah Sr went before Jr in every draft that I’ve looked back at, I don’t think there’s any way Jr was picked that early. People normally specify when it’s Jr, too.

dakjd901 drafted Gary Payton Sr. in the third round. We have always called him Gary Payton. The son is Gary Payton II.
