Everyone is right on Sprague it’s just a ‘dang it’ moment. You know when you get a prospect for peanuts and you think you are smarter then everyone else because he is going to be 80-80-60-60 fielding and 70-50-70-70 at the plate while stealing 30 bases a year? .......... well Sprague ain’t that! (Being a 90’s blue jays fan the name also suckered me)
You are playing the right game if you are a fan of 1990s baseball. I was a huge Twins fan and I try to build my teams like the Twins built their 1991 team with above average defense and above average offense at every position and then excellent pitching. I rarely get the Kirby Puckett type of player so that is probably one of the many reasons that I can't win in the playoffs.

For me I'm always looking for 'Ricky Henderson'. On base around .350, can steal 100 bases a year. When I drafted Glen Hayes in my other world I was the happiest person on the planet. Closest I have ever come to a 'Henderson' type player.

I should know this but I don’t so:

if a player gets hurt and I placed him on the 15 day DL in the middle of a playoff series, can I replace him with an eligible player immediately or do I need to wait between series? He’s hurt for 14 days so I won’t place him on the 15 day DL if I don’t need to, as in if he can’t be replaced. But with a 2-1 lead in a 5 game series I want to make sure I get the win and that one more player could help.

You can only add a player who is eligible before the next series. If they are no on the playoff roster at the time of the start of the series they cannot play.

I am tired of players not returning to pre injury form when coming off the dl. The changes made to injuries suck badly. If you have 20/20 in med and training they should always come back to at least pre injury form. They used to.

I'm new here - quick question - I have a player that's listed as a LF, but his range is 41. He is a solid hitter and on his player page he has 1B listed. Is there a penalty of playing him at 1B instead of LF. Will the player get upset? Will he be a hack at 1B?

BTW I already have someone slotted into my DH role.

You can play a player at any position you want with no effects other then rating caused. The listed position is window dressing and can be changed at anytime. You can list him at cf if you wanted ;-0 If you want to change his or any positions just go to the management page and click on the position and list the positions you want the players to play. Id suggest editing all players whom have a chance to make the ml roster at some point to maximize usage.

I change positions for players constantly. Particularly in the minors. If I have 2 stud 2B then I will set one as a 2B and the other as a CF or LF for example. That way I know they both will be in the lineup if I use recommendations for the minors and allow the sim to control the team- which I do. Ain’t nobody got time for 100% management of the minors. But you want to make sure studs play at any position possible and as much as possible.

Exactly I only really do it for players who have a chance to make it to the ml level. I only check my minors for fatigue and to make sure those who may make it are getting play time.

Yes. The sim will put the best current player at a position. The best prospect doesn’t always get the starting gig if his current ratings are worse. So adjust positions to make sure that players gets in. Inactivate/activate based on fatigue. I try to keep them at 100 but I make sure they don’t go below 90.

Love Henderson. He might be one of my favorites of all time. Unfortunately, I don't get many speed guys that can also run the bases, and when I do, they are usually one of those premium fielders that can't get on base -- Sammy and Brady. And when you only have one of them on your team and you up your team stealing settings, it makes your team run into a lot of outs.

Ricky was the best. For that time. The game has changed.

Oh man, both of those guys are a dream for me. Especially Sammy Rios. I could build a team around a guy like that.

rather then make a second post may as well ask my question here.

how much time, money and effort do the vets typically spend on their bullpen? For me it’s an afterthought and guys costing over 5 million to throw aprox 100 innings seems like a waste. I usually just use the whatever I have any maybe a FA approach. But this year I feel like it’s going to make, what I think is a pretty good team, underperform. Just curious what everyone else thinks.

if anyone is bored feel free to pick apart my St. Louis team. I’m probably not going to change anything but it’s always fun to see what people think.

(also yes Lincoln is just filling a roster spot but I really want to get him to 3000 hits)
