My wallet says we should do it once a year. My heart says we should do it right away.

This league is basically perfect as is, including banning the big three. Most of us were challenged with different and even complex strategies with the current rules, can't wait to learn some lessons and try again Savage II !

I'm of the thinking that as soon as the inaugural champ is crowned we start up S2. No need to start up S2 while people are making playoff adjustments for up to 5 tough leagues. That said, I'll sign up no matter when S2 starts.

Pex and Ben have both suggested today that teams that have LeBron James are somehow showing an act of philanthropy to the rest of the league or are envious of the other teams.

...explain it to me like I’m Bandito.

as of right now id want to start it up again sometime after this one ends...definitely not while this league is still going on but definitely more than once a year

im thinking its probably a good idea to let the next season of odl finish first, and then start the next savage season shortly after

Except they aren't the Big 3 in this league. Shaq would still be the 2nd best option. No reason to exclude those three. Takes away limited good players and creates a huge disadvantage for the end of the draft.

? Sounds like you are putting words in my mouth.

curry i can see because hes shorter on mins then most 1st rounders and his defense is weaker

wilt i can see because you have to deal with his different usgs and the fact hes only a center

but lebron? you really want to unleash his 5 best seasons on this format?

Wilt is a pure monster in this theme - he totally has 5+ devastating seasons - some of them devastate in different ways (eg here's 48 minutes of 90 D board lord) but still - I think your initial instinct was correct on that front

agreed

but i think you can still make somewhat of a case for shaq/kareem being as good(id still take wilt over them)

lebron is the no doubt about it best player in this format

LeBron is definitely number 1. No one close. I'd take Shaq 2, and Wilt 3.

Ban LeBron if you have to. That's fine, but I think the other two should be in the player pool.

I can see this way of thinking. If it felt like I was putting words in your mouth, those were pexs words. A unnecessary clunky way to speak to two people at the same time.

sorry about that.

copernicus...one of the episodes would need to feature the nash/allen/peja/rodman/moses era...maybe get an interview with sly about his unoriginal bastards team
And before that, before the advanced stats hit the scene, there was a long stretch where open league regulars included legends like Gerald Govan, Julius Keye, and Ron Boone. (And everybody used Bill Russell all the time.) And a shorter chapter when Karl Malone and Troy Murphy were 100% effective at SF, and Swen Nater was a mediocre defender.

Somewhere in between those phases, an owner whose name I can't remember seemed to hack the code and put together a starting lineup that couldn't lose. I think he named his teams the Five Horsemen or something like that. Any other long-timers, feel free to correct me but his starters went something like Russell-Thurmond-Pippen-Moncrief-Kidd. He proclaimed that he would keep fielding the same lineup until he lost. After his sixth open league title in a row, I beat him in the finals. Never saw him again after that.

Sure, dBKC. Feel free to beat my 15-65ish team in the Salary Cap League, or my 6-24 Warriors in the DSPL. I won't even try to stop you, so happy B-Day...

As far as this league, I feel S2 should be 5 teams, all players, 13 picks. Maybe we can do votes, or DH can get SAVAGE and go dictator on us...
your savage dictator says...

definitely staying with 5 teams...definitely staying with 12 players

BUT...i do like the idea of a 13th round where you have the option to drop a player and draft a new one...gives a small bonus to the owners at the end of the draft

i dont really care too much about the bans on wilt/lebron/curry...i still think its a good idea but im fine with putting it to a vote

I like those three staying banned. 5 teams is what makes it. You are right; can’t be up for debate.

the 13th round is...interesting. Is it an advantage to go first in the 13th round though? I wonder how many dropped players would be selected?
Banning those three makes for slim pickings at the end of the first round. It’s actually significantly worse for the bottom teams than the top that they are banned and those teams are already at a disadvantage.
That's why you, ash, and I are all at the bottom of the standings together. Oh, wait...
