Would you follow a Brewers thread if you didn't have to?

Probably not.  I only checked in when I heard they were seeking a manager.

I'm not sure Doug is familiar with "the internet".

The Brewers have narrowed their search to four candidates, with a second round of interviews expected to start soon.

Inside sources indicate that MikeT23 is not one of the "lucky" four.

Also not one of the four.

Willie withdrew his name when I said "Dude.  Do you know they expect you to live in WI during the summer?"   Willie said "There ain't no black people in WI.  I'm out!"

Dale Sveum has apparently been offered a two-year deal to stay on as hitting coach, meaning the new manager will be stuck with both a pitching coach (Rick Peterson) and hitting coach he had no say in choosing.

Guessing it won't be a big name managerial hire.

Coooooooooooooop!

Lot of rumors floating around that Bobby V is the mystery fourth finalist, but reports yesterday that an agreement "in principle" with Valentine to become the next Brewers manager were denied by both sides. Valentine claims he hasn't even had a second interview with the club. He's rumored to be looking for a 3-year, $10M deal.

While I can see Attanasio wanting to make a splash by hiring Valentine, to me he doesn't seem like someone who's really interested in managing. He could have had his pick of jobs over the last couple of seasons and he's still working at ESPN. Sure, maybe he's picky about the situation he wants... but it's hard to imagine the Brewers as his idea of the right situation. "So... you're saying I have no pitching? GREAT! Sign me up!"

I'm the mysterious 4th finalist.  I said I'd take the job if they'd move out of WI.  They're searching for an alternate home.

Valentine thought to be choice of GM Doug Melvin, but financial demands could concern owner Mark Attanasio.

Valentine's contract with ESPN gives ESPN first rights to the story if Valentine takes a managerial job.
