Yeah.... I'm hoping its just one of those things they just need to do to get it out of the way before the playoffs.

The good news is the zherdev-richie-versteeg line is playing really well. Versteeg looks like he is comfortable finally on the new team. Zherdev looks to being playing with a chip on his shoulder once no team claimed him off waivers. Its now or back to Russia for him.

The bad news is the flyers are always in pk mode lately. As enjoyable as timonens shg was today they have to stop getting stupid penalties.

I think that Zherdev is stepping up to the plate already. He hasn't played in what seems forever, but in the Leafs game, he had a bunch of great chances, and if he keeps this up the goals are gonna start coming. He already has 15 or something

As for their pk mode, some of the fault is on the refs and their anti-Flyers conspiracy. Yes, some of the penalties are justified, but the refs are calling the smallest things now. What was it, 6 power plays for the Leafs in two periods?

I don't know if I can watch much more if they come out and play like they did today. That was ******* atrocious.

sir98 - Its not like the flyers didn't get their fair share of power plays.... they just have not been effective at scoring on them 'all season long' and that continued in NY. I want to say the flyers had more time on the power play than the penalty kill yesterday but I refuse to ever look at that boxscore again to verify.

The flyers were long overdue for a losing stretch this season - I just hope the spanking they took on national tv is enough to wake them back up. That and the Pens are only 2 points back.

Further to my point about there not being a "conspiracy", in case you're wondering, the Flyers have 246 powerplay opportunities (10th in the league) and have been shorthanded 255 times (4th in the league). Seems pretty even to me.

If ANY team can claim unfair officiating, it's the Avalanche who currently sit with 218 powerplay opportunities versus 255 times shorthanded, but I think even then you can chalk it up to a young team making lots of mental mistakes.
