We host the Hells Angels of Anaheim next.
Game 121: Anaheim's Marty Pattin easily wins his 15th game as the Riders score only once in a 10-1 blowout. Tommy John takes the loss, his 14th.
Game 122: Game Two is a much more exciting. Anaheim puts a hurt on Danny Coombs and takes an 8-2 lead after five, but the Riders put together a seven-run rally in the sixth to take the lead. Terry Crowley and Thurman Munson have key doubles in the effort, and six of the runs are unearned thanks to an error by Anaheim. John Strohmayer, Darold Knowles, Gary Wagner, and AAA prospect Trevor Harrison combine for three scoreless innings to preserve the win, Harrison picking up his first save.
Game 123: Anaheim has the last laugh, shutting out the Riders 8-0 as Rudy May throws seven 4-hit innings for his 15th win.
We finish this round of divisional play at Oakland.

Game 124: Oakland stages a four-run rally in the sixth off Darold Knowles; Nate Colbert's two-run homer in the seventh pulls the Riders within a run, but they can get no closer, losing 8-6.
Game 125: As if the bullpen wasn't in bad enough shape, Brandon Rometti fails to get out of the first inning of this one; Oakland takes a 4-0 lead after one and cruises to an 8-2 win.
Game 126: Oakland puts four on the board in the fifth inning to chase Tommy John, but the Riders rally with two in the seventh and another in the eighth to tie the score. Neither team scores in the ninth, but Ted Sizemore doubles off Grant Jackson in the 10th to score Larry Hisle. Sizemore had already scored three runs, and this is his second RBI. Trevor Harrison allows a two-out single in the bottom half but finishes it off for his second save, a 6-5 win for Milwaukee.
The Riders return to Milwaukee to host Cleveland.
6/13/2007 6:59 AM
Game 127: Darold Knowles blows his fifth save of the season, allowing three Cleveland runs in the ninth, and the Flames hold on for a 6-4 win. Nate Colbert doubles and picks up his 88th RBI for the Riders.
Game 128: Ouch. Cleveland has everything go right, Milwaukee has everything go wrong. Brandon Rometti, well-rested after a 2/3 inning stint a couple days ago, gets the start and gets knocked out in the first inning again. Eventually Bill Lee is called on to take some punishment.. he throws 165 pitches and the Flames win 28-0.
Game 129: Milwaukee bounces back from the previous day's thrashing, taking a 3-1 lead in the first. Ted Abernathy chokes the last of that lead away in the seventh, and we go to the ninth tied at four. Darold Knowles maneuvers his way through a scoreless top half. With one out in the bottom half, Mike Lum doubles. Jack Heidemann hits a Texas Leaguer and the third base coach sends Lum home... with a brilliant slide he goes around the tag and scores the winner!
We're headed to Minnesota to face the Mooseheads.
6/14/2007 6:37 AM
Game 130: Milwaukee breaks out the bats in the opener, collecting 18 hits as they allow Ron Reed to go above .500 with his 11th win. Nate Colbert hits his 31st homer and Mike Lum hits his sixth. Reed collects two RBI, giving him nine for the season. Ted Sizemore leads the way with four hits.
Game 131: Jack Heidemann commits an error in the second inning, and it leads to five runs for the Mooseheads. Milwaukee never gets a real threat going, and they lose 7-3.
Game 132: Nate Colbert hits a two-run double in the first; Manny Sanguillen knots the score with a homer in the bottom half. Neither team scores again until the 11th, when Gary Sutherland doubles off Darold Knowles to drive home the winner. Milwaukee is outhit 9-4.
The road doesn't get any easier as we head to Chicago to face the 90-win White Sox.
6/15/2007 6:55 AM
Game 133: Brandon Rometti doesn't retire any of the four men he faces, while Chicago's Tom Seaver pitches a complete game shutout with 10 strikeouts. Rometti is now 2-16 while Seaver is 24-5. Ugly.
Game 134: Milwaukee bounces back in game 2, scoring six in the third (capped by Mike Lum's grand slam) and four more in the fourth, then hanging on for dear life to win 10-9. Trevor Harrison gets the win in relief, and Darold Knowles collects his eighth save.
Game 135: Milwaukee has the bats working again.. Al Ferrara has a five-hit game, including three doubles, and the Riders take a 9-6 lead after six. The bullpen gives in, however; Chicago scores once in the eighth and then three times off Ted Abernathy in the bottom of the ninth to win it 10-9.
Milwaukee returns home to face Boston. Bill Zepp not scheduled to work in this series.
6/16/2007 6:32 AM
Game 136: Mike Lum continues his hot hitting, with two doubles and a home run, but gets little support from his teammates. Johnny Bench reaches 134 RBI for the Stranglers and Boston wins 7-3.
Game 137: Milwaukee beats Boston 6-4 as Nate Colbert drives home four runs to reach 100 for the season. Danny Coombs picks up the win, improving to 8-12.
Game 138: The finale is a slugfest as both teams reach double digits in the hit column. Only Boston makes it there in the runs column, though; a five-run fifth inning gives them a 7-4 lead. Milwaukee ties it in the seventh, but as so often happened this season, Darold Knowles takes a loss, allowing three in the eighth. Nate Colbert hits another homer and has two more RBI while Al Ferrara has three hits and four RBI.
We are off to Yankee Stadium to face the Mammoths.
6/17/2007 7:05 AM
Game 139: Al Ferrara continues to swing a hot bat; he doubles and triples, raising his average to .302, and drives home three runs to spearhead a 15-hit attack. Trevor Harrison throws three scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win in an 11-5 decision.
Game 140: The bats are considerably cooler in game 2, stymied by Clyde Wright, who improves to 17-9 with a 3-2 win. Tommy John allows all three Mammoth runs in six innings of work and falls to 11-17.
Game 141: The Mammoths score early and often off Danny Coombs, taking the series with a 12-4 win in the finale. Al Ferrara hits a home run for Milwaukee, but Nate Colbert is 0-4 and leaves six men on base.
We return home to face Detroit.
6/18/2007 6:55 AM
Game 142: Detroit is happy to see us, apparently. Catfish Hunter is probably the most pleased; he throws a complete game, hits his first home run of the season, and drives home four. Milwaukee gets 10 hits but has no chance in this 14-3 blowout.
Game 143: The tables are turned in game 2; Jack Heidemann is one of two Riders to drive in three runs (the other is Jake Gibbs, with a pinch hit homer) and Milwaukee wins a game started by Brandon Rometti, 12-2. Ted Abernathy gets the win in relief.
Game 144: Milwaukee fails to close the deal, losing the finale 8-2 as Tommy John is rocked for 14 hits in his seven innings. Terry Crowley has three hits for the Riders but he never gets a chance with men on base.
We're off to the nation's capital to face the Commandos.
6/19/2007 6:45 AM
Game 145: The "Big Three" of the Riders' lineup combine for 10 hits, five runs, and eight RBI as Milwaukee blasts Washington 10-2 in the opener. Five Rider pitchers contribute to the effort, with John Strohmayer getting the win to improve to 5-0.
Game 146: The "Big Three" has five more hits, and Al Ferrara adds three, but Danny Coombs gets rocked for eight runs and the Commandos win 14-6. Mike Lum strands six baserunners.
Game 147: Ron Reed manages to retire only one batter before being knocked out of the box, and the Riders waste an 11-hit performance, losing 8-5. Nate Colbert hits his 34th homer and drives in runs 106 and 107.
Our final non-division series is hosting Baltimore.
6/20/2007 6:41 AM
Game 148: Nate Colbert leaves 10 men on base with an 0-5 performance, but Brandon Rometti allows only a solo home run to Wes Parker and the Rider bullpen throws 3.2 scoreless innings as Milwaukee beats Baltimore 2-1.
Game 149: Milwaukee trails 6-1 with one on and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, but stages a furious five-run rally to send the game to extras. Al Ferrara and Eddie Leon each have two-run hits in the inning. Two innings later, Thurman Munson and Ferrara single with one out. Eddie Leon faces Frank Reberger.. BOOM! Three run blast, Riders win 9-6.
Game 150: Baltimore avoids a sweep, blasting Danny Coombs for six runs in the fourth and rolling to an 11-3 win. Bob Gibson strikes out 12 Riders and neutralizes their 11 hits.
Our last three series are with divisional opponents.. not that it matters. At 57-93, a 100-loss season seems inevitable. Kansas City is up next.

In draft news, the Milwaukee Riders have won the lottery for the #1 pick in the 1971 draft. What good fortune!
The '71 draft is rich in outfielders but I think management may lean towards adding a starting pitcher.
6/21/2007 11:15 AM
this is some amazing dedication that you can write a recap of every single game for a team that sucks
6/21/2007 11:29 AM
They suck now... but someday they will be covered with glory!
Trust me!

Game 151: Mike Lum and Jack Heidemann have consecutive RBI hits in the eighth inning to snap a 2-2 tie, and Darold Knowles throws two scoreless innings to preserve the 4-2 win.
Game 152: Larry Hisle leads off the game with one of his five hits, sparking a four-run inning. Alas, Brandon Rometti does not even survive the first inning and the score is 4-3 after one. Milwaukee scores three in the third to take a 7-4 lead, but KC responds with five in the fourth and goes on to defeat the Riders, 10-9. Milwaukee gets 19 hits to KC's 11 but leaves too many on base to survive a horrible pitching performance.
Game 153: Al Ferrara hits his 14th homer and drives home three runs, helping Tommy John get his 12th win over Kansas City, 7-4.
Game 154: Danny Coombs is on top of his game, and the Riders get a two-run homer from Mike Lum along with a pinch hit, two-run double from Jake Gibbs as they beat KC 5-2.
We're headed to Anaheim to face the first place Hells Angels. With eight game we are 60-94... may avoid the 100-loss mark after all.
6/22/2007 6:49 AM
Game 155: Anaheim has clinched the division but they are not taking it easy. Anaheim collects 11 hits, all singles, but more effective than Milwaukee's four hits. Anaheim wins 6-4 as Jim Hickman reaches 145 RBI. Rudy May gets his 17th win.
Game 156: This one is a bit more competitive, but Jack Heidemann's eighth inning error, his second of the game, allows the winning run to score. Final score: 4-3.
Game 157: The top of the lineup is spectacular, but the bottom half does nothing. A late rally falls short when Nate Colbert flies out with Thurman Munson on second, and the Riders drop their third straight game, 5-4.
Game 158: Anaheim makes short work of Tommy John, scoring six in the first. Bill Lee ends up throwing 117 pitches in relief and the Hells Angels collect 25 hits in an 18-2 blowout.
Now 60-98, we need to win three of four from Oakland to avoid 100 losses.
