Down with the Superclass!

Although in real life, a 6 person class IS a superclass. The most famous Superclass of alltime is the Fab FIVE.

Reading that post gives me a warm feeling in the cockles of my heart. Or maybe below the cockles, maybe in the sub-cockle area. Maybe in the liver. Maybe in the kidneys. Maybe in the colon. I don't know.

The NCAA limits scholarships per year. In fact I think they limit them over a two year period as well. I know Arizona was hit hard when they had a lot of early decision kids. I think the real rule might be 5 in one year, 8 over a two year period, but I am not sure about the actual numbers. This rule change is both good for the game and realistic.

While this change is obviously geared toward the superclasses, and I'm fine with that, I've never understood the intense disdain for the coaches who've succeeded using superclasses. First of all, while unrealistic, there was nothing illegal or illegitimate about it. Second of all, the D in HD stands for dynasty. You can't build a true dynasty if every four years you are totally rebuilding.
This change could help balance out classes more making everyone closer to a dynasty (as in succeeding year in and year out).

The 5/8ths rule has not been around in RL for 5 years now, viper. Was thrown out after the NCAA thought it was silly to tell a coach how many scholarships he could give out in a single season.

The horse has been beat. Hammocks (banana?) have been hung. Nothing to discuss about this until the developer chat.

Pork out? hmm... does sound better.

If you have 3-4 seniors, they will be your highest rated players and best performing players wouldn't they? That's assuming they were good recruits to begin with and have progressed nicely. If so, I don't see how those four would be less apt to be drafted in favor of a junior.

For example, assume you have four seniors who are rated in the 800s (with good core ratings) and all average 10 ppg or more. Your 750 rated junior who averages 7 ppg would be less apt to jump.

Now, if your junior has higher core ratings and/or is more critical to your team than the four seniors, then you would have a problem.

It doesn't seem to work that way. When you have success in the NT, you lose players. Iowa St just won the NT in Wooden. He had 4 seniors, 3 of which were his highest rated players. He had 4 players average 12+ points a game, the 3 seniors and 1 Jr. His fifth option at 8+ pts was a junior.

Both of those Jrs declared. I'm not sure if it's realistic or not to limit the # of underclassmen that declare per draft, but it's very hard to maintain class balance in D1 when you are successful. If you make deep NT runs, it seems even the Jrs that are 3rd-6th options on the team can go pro.
