The Sky Is Falling II:The Sky Falls Again Topic

Current system works, no reason to make any changes. If you wish to stay private you can stay private as long as you choose, if you can't find owners you can go public and wait until you fill. On occasion some worlds can take weeks waiting to fill, but most worlds fill within 7-10 days. If owners lose patience they can leave a league. Folding a world in my opinion will cause more lost customers than it will create new customers. People losing their team or the threat of possibly losing their team in the future will just drive people away.

Then go public. You think folding some current worlds is going to fill those private worlds that have been waiting 3 weeks
Go public, and potentially lower the quality. And bring in one-and-done owners, which then creates the same rollover problem three months from now.

If a world has gone close to a month without rolling, the owners should a) collectively work harder to recruit, and if that doesn't work, then b) be merged with another laggard world.

I have to figure the owners in the world want something to happen, rather than sit idly by indefinitely.

No, it really doesn't. People who enjoy HBD would adapt to the new guideline. Fearmongers would have their day. But even the fearmongers who enjoy the game would stay and play.

Exactly. Seems pretty obvious, but a few people don't get it and just keep arguing, endlessly. "Close more worlds. The hell with the customers who lose their teams. Phooey on customers who fear losing their hard-earned team success."

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

However, it is sort of a humorous thread where so many guys are so earnest in their proposals that would lessen WIS's income, as if WIS would let that happen.

I am in a world that just filled up yesterday, it went public about 6 days ago and we had 12 openings. I was expecting a lengthy wait, but we filled up in less than a week. Since I have played HBD I think I have had 1 wait that was more than 2 weeks. Worlds that don't have the ability to survive will die on their own. If they start folding worlds I will start to wonder what might happen to one of my teams down the line. I think folding worlds would be a problem in confidence for many owners, folding worlds will have a unintended domino effect.
You forget that when they combine worlds, you KEEP YOUR TEAM FULLY INTACT.

It's just in a new world... that's all.

Hardly anything mind-blasting.

They won't lose their team if the world is just merged.

The only world that was truly eliminated only had like 6 owners at that time.

Their income is being lowered by worlds sitting idly. If 3 worlds sit unfilled for a month, they lose a seasons worth of revenue, or if 6 worlds sit idle for 2 weeks. It is in WIS best interest for the worlds to roll. And the more open worlds, the longer it takes, on average for each world to fill.

WIS's income is temorarily suspended while a world fills. Income is lost when customers leave.

I don't see a down side to merging 4 worlds into 3 (24 x 4 = 3 x 32).

Try to make the divisions match as closely as possible, and maybe a few have to flop AL/NL, I guess, but it beats losing your team, no??

I'd have no issue with folding entire worlds. Worlds that cannot fill within a reasonable time period have problems. HBD is like urban sprawl. It wasn't planned, it just happened. Knocking down one building doesn't solve the problem, it just creates an open spot. HBD needs surgery not a band-aid.

Two years ago, I said the problem would take care of itself. It hasn't. Owners keep joining 'tarded up worlds with 20 win teams and 130 win teams. Owners keep joining worlds with 15 openings(guilty). Owners keep joining worlds with double digit openings 10 seasons running. We, as a group, are incapable of fixing it ourselves. Maybe we don't want good, competitive worlds. But, in the end, that would make for a stronger, better game.

Totally agree, the sky is falling. People don't want to wait forever. I say reset everything and start from scratch like someone said. Don't think people would be that heartbroken to start fresh. I would love a brand new world or worlds. People could recruit selectively and they could put a cap on the worlds based on the customers they have. Give us all a free season to ease our "pain".

It doesn't need to be restarted from scratch. But there are more than a few worlds out there that just don't cut it. Weed out the "weak".

Darwinism works. Four and a half billion years of evolution can't be wrong.
