socratic? i'm in over my head... i thought usage was about appliances.

ok - we know it's possible to have not enough usage but is it possible to have too much usage? (or put another way 'more than enough' usage)

also is all usage by definition equal? can there be players who maybe you wish didnt have so much usage?

I assume that beyond a certain usage threshold you're getting less value for your draft dollars because you're paying for more theoretical possessions than your team will actually have.
11/24/2009 12:12 PM
and couldnt you also assume that some of that usage comes with the negatives associated with usage like TOs?

so wand if I double Doc and the Admiral and if (BIG IF) that doubling works

who picks up the slack?

I hope that will mean that Battier and Miller take their open 3's until you come out and guard them. My guess is that is not they way it will work in the SIM since their usage % is 10.0 and 14.6 respectively.

I could go with a higher usage version of Miller but then I give up his 20.0 Dreb%, 18.4 Asst %, and 89 DEF season. Not sure if it is worth it.

Can we start over ???

you still have a couple picks to make

anyway it's a crapshoot - sometimes Miller and Battier will kick in and make those treys at a higher % since there's a penalty on the D for doubling

and sometimes they will exceed their natural shooting tendency and you'll get penalized for that with TOs and lower FG%

and sometimes the doubling wont appear to work at all

and once in awhile if you sim enough games monkeys will appear to fly out of Nate's butt

I could assume that that's a safe assumption.

but would it be a safe assumption to assume that assumption is safe?

Yes! Maybe playoffs for my Small Ball!

Speaking of usage, scud, you earlier said that I might have a usage problem. High or low?
11/24/2009 1:01 PM
The answer is Yes, to much usage is bad. If you have a lot of high usage players, they won't preform where they are supposed to. Consequently, if your usage is somewhere between 105-110 you should be safe including double teams.

That about cover it guys?

However with (over the top usage) it is possible to still make it work with an up tempo offense. although you do run the risk of more TO's and fouls.

empdenied, go to your draft page where you have your drafted players listed. Click on the advanced tab. Look at usage%. Add the %'s of your starting 5. If they are below 100% you might have a low usage problem, if they are above say 110-117% you might have a high usage problem unless you run an uptempo offense, assuming you have the personal to handle such a tempo...

I've drafted and will adjust my lineups to assure that I have between 100-115 pretty much all the time; I had assumed this was alright, but wanted to see what scud had 'seen' in my lineup that made him comment. All the wisdom is always appreciated form all of you!
