Dalt - You are always talking about "Giving the coaches the most options" to "Do what they want with their team, how they see fit".

Where did that go?

Um, I don't think either of those things are my mantra at all. My mantra is "What is best/makes sense for HD?" I don't know if I've ever uttered either of the other phrases from above that you're attributing to me, and if I have (don't think so), it would've been an isolated instance.

To make it clear, I'm not for blindly offering the most options possible. I am intersted in the methodology, it needs to make sense and be good for the game. And in this instance, I feel that this change would be bad for the game (DI recruiting specifically).

I don't remember this much fuss when the rule was put in play in 2005.

Does anyone else find it interesting that besides Coach Billy_G, all the other coaches complaining about the cap have more than six schollies to fill in the near future? Just saying.......

Re: Dalt

I have always heard you say that you want coaches to have the most ability to control their teams how they see fit. You have always been against change that limits the control that coaches have over there teams. Is that not correct?

I am not bias based on my situation. I have felt that the cap was unneeded from the start and even more so when classes were limited directly instead of indirectly with the monies cap.

To say that I am bias based on my current 8 ships is nonsense, I had no ability to get any extra monies from this change and I resent that notion.

It makes no sense to penalize any coach because the engine randomly decided to take them beyond the 6 ships mark.

Hey having 7 open isn't a bad strategy....who can't recruit from a power 6 teams with $100k of money? Maybe you take a walkon or 2, but its easier than recruiting with only 1 open.

Especially since you got a big boost in prestige from the EEs.

Zack, you are one who always states that you are for what's best for HD, right? Make me understand why giving teams that are already near the top of the heap, if not at the top, extra money to recruit, when the combination of prestige and open schollies would basically allow them to pick and choose whichever players they wanted, is good for the game. I'm not being a smartass, I'm trying to look at this objectively.........

PLUS they will get likely get 100% carryover for the following year since they might have no seniors and if they have an iffy year no EEs.

What is best for HD is when coaches have the full ability to shape their teams and coach their teams with the smallest amount of restrictions.

When I am not allowed to have any say over whether my players go EE or do not go EE, why should I then be punished when they do and I have 8 openings to fill? I did not try and 'game the system' as some would call it with walkons I had none the last two years.

After that how does 6 make sense? Did we pick that number out of a hat? Roll a 12 sided die?

Just because a team has a solid prestige does NOT make it easy to fill 8 ships when you are drasically limited in terms of moines per ship with the rest of the world for no fault of your own.

Why is it viewed as "extra money"? If we give 15k per scholarship, why are we limiting this at 6? I dont see how it is extra. And yes, I have 7 openings in Tark. I doubt it really affects how I would recruit next season. I just dont know why the limit is there. If you have 8 openings, why not get cash for 8 openings. I just dont see why you wouldnt get that extra cash.

EE boost is not big and it is only for 1 season, it comes nowhere near offseting the disadvantage of having less recruiting monies.

Why not make the cap 8? So few teams have any chance of going over 8 in a given year.
2/18/2010 12:50 PM
Sully ~ I feel its extra because you already got $30k for those 2 walkons.
