I'll take a big bat team

I'll go powerball here. We'll handle all those pesky running types with a Babe Ruth 41 oz bat to the knees. :)

Has anybody attempted to put this Powerball team together yet?  You have basically one choice at SS, one choice at 2B, and no Catchers that fit the criteria.  We are gonna have 16 versions of the same player same year playing SS and 2B and apparently a 3-man rotation at Catcher.  Any thoughts/ideas?

I will use only 2 catchers. I used  47 Walker Cooper. 575 PA's and he wasn't even my 1st choice. Are you talking Sewell at SS and Bell at 2B ? Just wondering. This league does take a little time to draft, but I think it will be worth it.

I used 600 PA minimum, and only got McKean and Hornsby for SS and 2B.  It's the defensive ratings that limit my choices tremendously.

Trust me I know. Unfortunately with the rules set up, our teams will score lots of runs but play very little D

Well, I had to look it up to confirm, and as I expected, 47 Walker Cooper doesn't meet the requirements.  .300/.400/.500  There are only 4 Catchers in the game that match the criteria and none of them have over 413 PA.

Personally, I would recommend getting rid of the defensive requirement.  That would greatly open up our choices.

Here are our only choices for the following positions:
Catcher:  Grady (268 PA), Salkeld (334 PA), Burgess (413 PA), and Padgett (273 PA)
SS:  Burns (743 PA), McKean (760 PA), or Dykes (515 PA)
2B:  Hornsby (641, 516, 446 PA), Lowe (822 PA), Stephenson (288 PA), Barrett (292 PA), Carew (204 PA), and Lopez (169 PA)

So, none of the guys you've got, C Cooper, 2B Bell, or SS Sewell are even eligible.

Oops, forgot about the <10 SB criteria.....so for SS, Dykes with a whopping 515 PA is your only choice!  And now 2B Lowe is off that list of available, which leaves Hornsby and a bunch of back-ups to play 2B.

we are full!!! let's get those teams in so we can finally start to play!!!

My concern hasn't been looked into, has it?

There is only one SS that fits the criteria.....Dykes (515 PA), that won't work, right?

okay...the pickings for the powerball teams are a bit slim at 2B, SS, and C, and I'm willing to give a little flexibility for those positions, but I won't just do away with the defensive requirements...that's a big part of the league theme.  Here's what I would suggest: for those positions, and only those positions, the powerball teams can select a player with at least one of the ratings being a C (or in the catcher's case, 2 of the ratings)  It doesn't matter whether the range of the glove is the C but one must be a C ..and the other rating can not be any better than a B  No A or A-.  That gives you a little more flexibilty while not really ruining the theme idea.  In the conncept of fairness, the small ball teams can have that same option (at the same 3 positions) In other words at 2B, SS and C you can select a guy with one of the 2 defensive ratings that is worse than a B (but no worse than a C) (or 2 of the 3 at the C position.

If anyone has a real problem with this, let me know..

And phoenix01, I also show the 1935 Arky Vaughn as being eligible at SS

That's a little better.

When you say "C or worse", are you saying C or C- only?  No C+?

So, when you say they can have one C and one B, that means one has to be C, C-, D+, D, D- and the other can't be B+, A-, A, A+?  Right?

No, Arky Vaughn has a C+ rating, not eligible.
