To make things semi-interesting, the 1935 Cubs beat the 1906 Cubs in game one, 2-0. Mordecai was dominant, giving up only 4 hits...but the Cubs offense couldn't get a big hit. 11 baserunners, and more than twice as many hits as the 35'ers (9-4), but couldn't get the big hit when they needed it. Johnny Evers was a black hole at the top of the lineup, going 0-5, and that was a big problem.
