I am not sure how its not possible.  Returning owners get to choose their slot.... what they think is best for them is up to them to decide.  But none who is returning from the previous season will ever have to pick before their "deserved" or "earned" spot.  I mean its the worse they can do.  The best they can do is move up or back at their personal preference.

I would certainly entertain discussion regarding the rules after the draft on the issue.  But I don;t see how getting your earned spot as a worse case scenario and a better preference spot as a best case scenario is second to better option.  IMO it is the best format of any draft in any sim here (for multi run seasons).

If anyone wants to open a thread to discuss it post draft by all means do so. 

No all Im saying is the new people should be put in the middle of the initial drafting order.  So when someone at the bottom chooses closer to 24, they are more likely to get close to that. 

I am confused.  

If we put a new owner at 15 to select their slot then the returning owner at 19 would be further away from getting their preferred choice.
I guess I am not understanding the issue.  If an owner wants to get 24, the best way for them to do that is to be higher up in the slot selection order.  A new owner will usually end up around 14-16 which over time proves to be the least desireable slots.  And putting a new owner above a returning owner takes that away from the returning owner.

I must be missing the point.... as it stands right now, it does exactly what it you want it to do.... gives the returning owner the best chance to get their preferred slot and the new owner the least likely chance to get tehir slot.  And I am not sure how to improve that.

I'm not sure if I understand you entirely, but you seem to be operating under the assumption that the "best" pick is #1 and the "worst" pick is #24, but it's not really how it works. The most desirable spots are usually at either end of the draft. The only way to get to pick them is to pick early. Someone at the bottom choosing close to 24 is actually not likely to get very close to that, because several people above them will choose close to 24 and be closer to that pick than they will.

Ok maybe Im not understanding, ask you a question then.  I was number 23 and chose closer to 24.  5 owners left from last season and I'm in the 15th draft slot.  Not really understanding how I got there, if the new people give me a better chance to be closer to 24

coley, it's quite simple actually... new owners are plugged in last. how difficult is that? then there are no penalties like eleibowitz and i endure because we come back and want to pick at the end of the order, but get plugged in at the middle. doesn't matter. it's your cake and i enjoy big slices.

because 8 returning owners from last year who picked ahead of you picked "closer to 24." There might have been a slight error somewhere - technically that should give you 16th, not 15th - but that's why you're so far into the middle, because those 8 people's selections were processed before yours.

Anyway, I wish we had been switched one spot so you could be closer to 24...then I would have gotten Howard with my 1st pick ;)

jcred is a new guy who wanted 24 and got closer to the middle than e and scud, so the system worked correctly.  There were just more people who wanted 24 than 1, so you guys got pushed further away.  The real "problem" is that you guys did well last time, so a lot of ppl get to choose before you!
