Obama was handed his state Senate seat. He won the Senate seat without a shot being fired. He never really had a job that had any kind of standard of performance. So take away school and what has he done.
Palin fought for everything she got.
Beauty Queen
PTA
Husbands business
Mayor
Governor
Head of Alaskan oil and gas Commission
She went out and took on life.
Oh my God. I can't stop laughing.
When I compare Obama to Palin I cannot stop laughing at the media portraying him as a genius and her as stupid. That is pretty funny.
This guy has never really accomplished anything on his own before running for President.
Yes, because beauty queen, PTA, working in her husband's business and getting herself appointed to a partisan commission rank as major life accomplishments. As opposed to being named editor of the Harvard Law Review. Jesus wept.
Again that is a school accomplishment. Being smart in school and being able to translate that into real world skills is something that not everyone can do. Palin did, Bachmann did, Obama not so much!
Well Obama clearly did because he's sitting in the White House. Dumbass.
I still can't get over the fact you view beauty queen as a bigger real-world accomplishment than being editor of the Harvard Law Review.
I never said it was bigger.
Everything Obama did before president was in his comfort zone. Harvard Law Review is tough, but it is you sitting with other students and discussing law. He does that all the time.
Having to stand up in front of the world and fight for a beauty title shows charecter. PTA leader is another challenge. Running afamily Business gives her more real world economic experience that Obama has. The Commission post gives her actual energy experience.
And it doesnt really matter if Alaska is bigger that some other state. Do you really think that the Governor of Alaska is easier than the Governor of Arkansas?
Obama had no resume and the media never called him on it. He had no experience in the real world and no one ever asked him what magazimes he reads. This guy has zero foreign policy backround and no one ever called him on it. Palin got trashed and Obama got a free pass.
It takes a certain amount of courage -- and more than a little narcissism -- to enter a beauty contest, but thousands of girls do it every year. How many people are admitted into Harvard Law School? And how many have Obama's disadvantaged background? Do you understand what the word "tough" actually means.
Listen, my two kids get up on a stage every year and play the piano -- both rote pieces or their own compositions -- as well as recite poetry at music festivals so I understand how difficult it is to expose yourself by performing to an audience and judges. My wife and I feel it has helped them improve immensely. But that still is nothing like getting into Harvard Law.
As a parent of school-aged children and somebody who is married to a teacher, I've met plenty of PTA types. In my experience, they've been stay-at-home mothers with the time and motivation to take on that role. Some of them are fantastic in supporting the school and improving the quality of campus life. Others are incredibly vindictive and destructive because they have an agenda of trying to pay back teachers or other parents for perceived slights to their children. The position does not confer inherent goodness on people. I have no idea what Sarah Palin was like as a PTA leader but I don't find it an accomplishment that rates above Harvard Law Review editor.
As somebody who has worked in the energy industry for the last seven years (in public relations for a supermajor), I can tell you that commission post was a patronage appointment that is entirely unremarkable. These types of jobs are doled out to hacks for services rendered and used by aspiring politicians to raise campaign contributions. In that sense, Sarah has done a fantastic job as a reliable supporter of oil companies. That's her constituency and her ATM. That doesn't really impress me as an "accomplishment." Moreover many people in the industry STILL have their doubts about her ability to run and win. That's having met her and been charmed by her. A lot of oil execs would love to sleep with her. Most, though, are unsure of her viability in running the United States government.
Alaska is certainly no smaller than Arkansas but that does not mean she's ready to be president. Bill Clinton was a thoroughbred. Sarah Palin is a donkey. I'm not sure what Obama is but he's in a different class than Sarah Palin. He'd spank her badly in a general election -- enough to give fetishists such as yourself all kinds of fodder. Sensible Republicans understand this because they remember the likes of Barry Goldwater. That's why the conversation will eventually evolve beyond Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann. The media -- and disingenous carnival barkers such as Rush and Olbermann -0 want to keep them in the race because they love their telegenic looks and outrageous quotes. They are good for ratings. That's why the media are still mourning the loss of Donald Trump. As are the Democrats.
