Thank you for the discussion, positive and negative. It has given me many things to think about, and I will act accordingly.

Until then, I ask that anyone who has information regarding bad owners that should be removed from the world and any suggestions for improving the world to please SiteMail me with any and all of your concerns and suggestions. I don't want Thome to become a "tard" world, as I've seen mentioned in this thread.

As for WIS's requirements, those were the rules given to me, and I have no control over them.

I joined Thome because I've been watching and waiting for a fresh world for some time.  I have 3 other teams, none of which will I be leaving to join this world.  The turn-on to me is having an 'uncorrupted' team.  I want a team no one else has interfered with.  And no, I would not have used this slot to join an existing league.  I've done that 3 times while waiting for a fresh league.

the randomly computer generated teams in newly formed leagues come complete with tard players in the big league level and terrible contracts. If you're looking for an 'uncorrupted team'. I think you are in for a huge disappointment.

russ, the thing people have been arguing is whether or not it is really a fresh start. its just like taking over a team in season 20, except a computer has "coached" it for "20 seasons."

I happen to believe it is exactly like taking over a team in season 20. There will be bad players with bad contracts, some minor levels might be a mess, it could very well be the same. And that could make it lose its luster.

Uncorrupted must have a different meaning to you and I.  I want a team no one has got their hands on.  If you can't understand the reasoning, I'm sorry but there's not much more I can do for you.

Basically, if I don't get in a new league, I'm not signing up for more teams anyway.  So really, I guess I save money at that point.  That's where I'm at.

It would be clearer to say, I want a team that is 'all my own', not really an uncorrupted team, just one that you have complete claim to.

A new world intrigues me. Not going to add any teams right now, new or otherwise, but there it is.

I think when people say it's "uncorrupted" what they really mean is "all teams are equally corrupted". No good owners with 10 seasons of good drafts, no budgetary advantages, no scouting advantages, no other teams with 0 Adv (while you have 6) sitting on years of excel files of draft/IFA prospects, no one's team "fitted" to their ballpark or strategy, etc.

Not so much that your team will be great, but that the playing field is level.

You may want to consider the other 31 owners when talking about "corrupted".

Another issue entirely!

I won't lie, I am intrigued as well. But still, I feel it is overhyped. Honestly though, if the new world is solid and can fill, then I'm all for it. I was just pointing out that for some, that is not the mindset. Some see it as I put, but I am glad to see its not everyone.

Anyways, good luck in this new world.

Yes it is.  But, if you don't think a couple of bad apples can ruin your experience despite no one ever touching your team, I'm almost positive you're mistaken.  Or just don't care what happens beyond your team.

They can... there's no doubt about that.  Which is why I'm not against starting over with more screening.

However, no matter what you do to start a league people can find a way to mess it up.  The BIGGEST problem to me is requiring new players.  Sure they could be new, but if they're not... why force people to make alts to make something they want happen?  It only hides the ********.

OK, WifS, if you're paying attention, this probably needs to be revisited.

The owners from the new world, Thome, are dropping out faster than Repub Presidential candidates.    Had you let them start a week ago, you'd have what might have been the most unstable world in HBD.

I'm not against starting new worlds but the criteria should probably be examined.

First, asking for x-amount of n00bs and requiring a long-term committment from x-amount of original owners is like saying "Yes, sir.  You can try our McRib sandwich but you'll have to buy five of them before Friday or we're going to discontinue the sale of them."    N00bs may not like the game and bail before ST is over.
Second, you might ask for x-amount of owners with long-term committment records.   Getting 22 owners with no experience of sticking with a team for more than a few seasons isn't any better than bringing in n00bs.
Third, make sure the potential commish is actually screening owners rather than saying "OK, which division?" to anyone who inquires.  The commish doesn't make a world but the owners he lets in do.  Make him do some work.
Finally, give them a firm start date.  Make it x-number of days(I'd say 30-45) after they have the 32 committed.   If one bails, their 30 day wait starts over.  That prevents the "I want to join but only if it starts tomorrow" owner from getting in on it.
This.

Its a lot like banging a virgin. Sure the idea is good, and knowing you are going into untouched lands seems nice. But then she ends up bleeding all over you and crying and you can't do much because it hurts.
