So am I, for probably different reasons. Was one of my better teams all year and then went 1-11 to finish, blowing the division lead. Ends up looking pretty pedestrian at 83-79.

I think there should be some bonus points for making the playoffs. Otherwise, a team that goes 0-3 in the first round is rewarded the same as a 100-loss team.

Yes, they have 30-40 more points - which they earned in the regular season.

But making the playoffs should warrant something extra. Maybe my playoff point system gave too many points for playoff performance, but I think the new method went a little too far in the other direction. Just my opinion.

I agree with some sort of playoffs points bonus in theory but there's almost too much luck in division/league placement to make that practical. Example: in the $90M league a 79 win team made the playoffs and a 87 win team did not- just based on the random luck of division placement. If those 2 owners were battling for the top spot (or any spot) it's kind of a kick in the nuts to award the owner of the 79 win team with bonus points while the 87 win team obviously gets none with no chance for additional wins.

Question for debate.

Team A had all six teams win 80 games.

Team B has three teams win 90 and three win 70. The three 90-win teams all go 0-3 in playoffs.

Which owner should get more points?

I'll answer with a question:

Team A is in the AL East & wins 79 games & wins the division. Team B is in the AL Central & wins 87 games & misses the playoffs.... Team A "deserves" a bonus & team B does not?

I wouldn't want the 79-win team to get a bonus beyond the opportunity to win more in the playoffs, if it meant valuing the 79 wins more than the 87 in that example.

22 of the 24 owners had at least 1 playoff team. I'm guessing that's a record but this is my 1st tournament so I really have no idea... Does anyone know if it is the record & what the record was previously?

I agree with schwarze that we swung the pendulum back a touch too far...I'd support a small bonus for making the playoffs.

Maybe 3 points? I do agree it's disheartening to go 1-3 in the first round and wind up with 1 point only to show for it.

So the 79 win team that won the AL East in the $90m league deserves a bonus & the 5 teams with better records that missed the playoffs do not? I just can't fathom how that's something we should consider.

by your logic, teams that make the playoffs shouldn't even get the bonus wins for winning playoff games unless they have a top 4 regular season record.

Well, 7 points is a pretty lousy showing for my 3 playoff teams. Even my 110 team could manage just one win in the LCS. Over and out, alas.

Talk about parity; the 12 WS teams are represented by 11 different owners. Brianjw is the only owner with two teams still alive.
