Some songs I like
with some of them; I will post the year it was on the charts:
School's Out - Alice Cooper
Layla - Derek and the Dominoes
Sweet Judy Blue eyes - Cosby Stills, etc
Just the way you are - Billy Joel
Music to Watch Girls by - Andy Williams ('67)
Spirit in the Sky - Norman Greenbaum about 1971
Unforgettable - Nat King Cole 50's
My special Angel - Bobby Helms - late 50's
Love me or let me be lonely - Friends of Distinction
Rebel Rouser Duane Eddy.. 1957
Purple People Eater - Sheb Wooley -1958
Little Darling - The Diamonds 1957
Another Day in Paradise - Tears for Fears
Captain of Her Heart - Double Double
He aint heavy- The Hollies
Broken Wings - Mr. Mister
You belong to the city - Glenn Frey
Georgia - Ray Charles (1961)
The Hustle - Van Morrison
What you see is what you get - The Dramatics
Poor Side Of Town - Johnny Rivers 60's
Nothing by Elvis on this list ( ?? )
Good jukebox !!!
You mentioned Johnny Rivers. Of course I love the immortal Secret Asian Man but my favorite of his and one of my favorite songs of all time is Seventh Son. It is a rousing great song.
Good to have you join in and a very eclectic bunch.
One of my loves is good music
There are a hundred more I could add to that, but my idea is someone will Go U. T and search-find- play a few of them
Many kids who are like 12-16 show up and post how they love that music and hate the crap they are shovelling at them today. there's still hope ;-)
I appreciate your optimism but great rock and roll is as popular as jazz meaning it is a minority taste in music and I don’t see it coming back. Same goes for the standards. How many great singers of “Sinatra style” music are there after Michael Buble and new songs - forget about that.
In my unfortunate opinion hip hop and rap and other assorted crap is here to stay and there is a big cemetery for any music that started with music lessons.
You can find good newer artists here and there but not easy to find.
In Rock there are good examples of adventurous acid- psychadelic guitar rock but not much at all 60s style or late 70s top notch punk.
