Any league (any league be it professional or not) should try create a fair and balanced schedule. While it is likely impossible to make 'perfectly' balanced etc, there should be at least the attempt get it as close as possible. The other pro sports leagues do a pretty good job of this. Why can't the NHL?
Like I said, the NHL does face some unique challenges..unlike Football and Baseball where the team is THE main occupant during the season and gets pretty much 1st call on dates, A fair number NHL arenas do double time as homes for NBA teams. Also since the season is in the winter there is more demand for 'concert' dates in these places etc etc etc. Also let's face more than the NBA, the NHL has to bow to pressures from TV. With really no major U.S TV network deal, they have make the most of the 3 Canadian networks and minor U.S coverage they get.
Still there at least should be an attempt...but not surprising from my opinion, they FAIL here. Sad really to see our great game being handled so poorly.
