Craig Biggio was pretty good, wasn't he?

russel martin early in his career?

Not in HBD but Jason Kendall ran pretty well until the incident at first base.

Biggio wasn't a catcher very long.

Martin was similar to Kendall but he stopped running earlier(and without catastrophic injury to help him stop running).

Why is this guy so successful?

His splits are okay, his first pitch is weak. The only truly remarkable ratings are his 4th pitch and durability. But I just took over his team, and I see he has won 4 CY Young awards.

What am I missing that makes him so good?

It's the pitches and control.   Using my formulas, he falls between 1-2 on my staffs.   However, the formula doesn't do a great job with the "oddball" guy with a P4 in the 90s.

I don't supposed you'd send me your formula?

Will/have you explained your PPS?

I will tell pretty much anyone anything I know about HBD but I've only given up one formula(please see next question).

I have.   Basically, I wanted a way to compare my 80/86/87/90 guy to my 90/81/85/86 guy.   Both are lacking in one category in my wanted 85 across the board for SS(it can apply to any position).     So I felt the best way was to examine results.   OF are PO+assist+positive plays-errors-negative plays.   I remove PO for IF because, a lot of the time, that's just catching a ball someone threw to you.  No skill in that.   I divide that total by innings played.   I then multipy that number by 1458 because that's 162x9(the possible number of 9 inning games in a 162 game sched).   So I can say "If that dude played every inning, he'd make plays x-amount of times."    Then I compare it to the other guy that I've split time with him there.

Do you think Hockey was looking for a guy like this guy?

Is Jameis Winston the next JaMarcus Russell? Does he like Purple Drank like Russell? Who are the Raiders taking with the #4 overall pick?

I've noticed that some people sign star players to long term contracts before their third arbitration year. One example I just noticed in one of my leagues:

This guy appears to have been signed in his first arb year, and as a result, he'll be a free agent next year.

Is there any point to doing this? It seems to me it just wastes two years of team control. But since I've seen it happen a number of times, I'm wondering if I'm missing something.

I know this is going to get redlined but yeah. I've never seen that before. That is also a hell of a ball player.

Evidently.

No, I think he's just an immature idiot.  Russell didn't like football, IMO.   They're taking a WR.   I hope it's Cooper.

No real point but I've done it.  We know the regression pattern of players.    So, if there's a 27 y/o asking for 5m in arb or 5.3m long term, it may be beneficial, to your future salary cap, to give him a LT with a bonus.

Yeah, not a question.

Is there a way I can see the number of pitches thrown for each individual at bat?

I want to figure out why my guy with TPC 20 MPC 30 threw 34 pitches and burned out his arm.
