Wheel out the fat lady aka Muddy's wife ..this game is over ...unless Luongo chokes?

F*ck was that game a snoozer... At least a little nastiness with Alberts dropping the gloves with our tough guy Backlund before getting tuned by our middleweight Jackman

But other than that.. i agree with randle.. rivalry seems.. trivial

I'd personally like to thank Phiona for "letting" us walk all over his team last night.  What a sport! Very gracious to his old teammates.

Maybe we will start hearing from Godmike now ? Flames are in the playoff hunt ...not saying he is like Oiler fan....but ..the similarities are eerily similiar

Well randle, back to the good ol days.. Flames are a one man team.. Kipper

2/21/2012 10:29 AM
I notice they stuck Karlsson in net replacing Kipper.  What happened to Irving?  Just another youngster they don't want to develop?

2/22/2012 2:08 AM
Irving was only up while Karlsson was injured and then rehabbing... Kipper will still be our goalie next year so why have Irving on the bench

That said... Kipper being pulled had nothing to do with his play, he was stellar and had no chance on any of the Oiler goals.. the team did a great job of staring open mouthed as the kids skated around and scored.. I think Eager even took advantage and stuck his dick in someones mouth for an in game bj

The pressure for the Flames to make the post season (ANY post season spot) is so much, management and coaching is afraid to take chances with youth.  It's been that way for the last decade.  Add that to Sutter when GM trading away a lot of draft picks for vets, who are 'has beens'.

The goalie position is a perfect example..how times in the last 10 years have they taken a goalie with their 1st round pick?  I know of 3....where are they now????  Irving is the only one to even be on the NHL roster and actually play in some games, the rest...   Though the same can be said for any of their 1st rounders (when Sutter didn't trade it away)...

So long as the fans and upper management put the pressure to make the post season..this organization is stuck in neutral!  They might make the #7 or #8 spot every now and then but will gone in the 1st round.  They are desperate to find that lightening in the bottle they found that one time.....  There is no long term vision here and that means: Barely missing the playoffs most seasons and always picking in the middle of the 1st round...      Round Round they go...

Absolute BS that they stood pat during the deadline.. yeah I know 13 players gone in the offseason, but this team is not a playoff team.. its all about Kipper

I dont know where the pressure aginor is talking about is coming from... agreed management thinks they have pressure to make the playoffs, but a lot of fans I know in Calgary want to change this path... yes you cant trade Kipper or Iggy unless they ask for it, but man, sell the rest!  Give em away and tank

Just out of curiosity.. i know of Irving and Krahn as 1st rounders.. who am I missin?

Krahn never fully recovered from a knee injury in junior, played a whole 1 game in the NHL with Dallas.. Irving has potential and I think he is Kipper's replacement... he will at least grow and play in the minors rather than sit on the pine in the NHL.. everybody knows Kipper aint ever riding the pine

I thought Evan Lindsay was a 1st rounder, my mistake...he was a 2nd rounder in '97.  Looking at the list of draft picks over the past decade or so the Flames haven't done too bad with d-men (Morris, Phaneuf, Lydman, Gauntier,....) but forwards.....Fata, Saprykin, Kobasew..... is another matter entirely.   Even a guy who people felt was a 'can't miss'..Kris Chucko now is a Never will be.  It's injury but still, their record with forwards is less than impressive.  Part that could be pressure to produce right off the bat.  Very few forwards are a success their first full season.

The pressure is there, I've heard a lot of fans (even several here) talk about how making the post season is the only thing that matters.  Even a number in the local press etc.   Doesn't really matter, if management thinks there is pressure...then....

Very few forwards where they are drafting.. for sure.. like you said.. drafting in the middle sucks
