I notice they stuck Karlsson in net replacing Kipper. What happened to Irving? Just another youngster they don't want to develop?
The pressure for the Flames to make the post season (ANY post season spot) is so much, management and coaching is afraid to take chances with youth. It's been that way for the last decade. Add that to Sutter when GM trading away a lot of draft picks for vets, who are 'has beens'.
The goalie position is a perfect example..how times in the last 10 years have they taken a goalie with their 1st round pick? I know of 3....where are they now???? Irving is the only one to even be on the NHL roster and actually play in some games, the rest... Though the same can be said for any of their 1st rounders (when Sutter didn't trade it away)...
So long as the fans and upper management put the pressure to make the post season..this organization is stuck in neutral! They might make the #7 or #8 spot every now and then but will gone in the 1st round. They are desperate to find that lightening in the bottle they found that one time..... There is no long term vision here and that means: Barely missing the playoffs most seasons and always picking in the middle of the 1st round...

Round Round they go...
