why would Arizona go from Carson Palmer, an older QB on the downward slope of his career, to Alex Smith, an older QB on the downward slope of his career? Why don't they pick a young QB in the draft?
Any team who feels they are set-up to "win now" does not want to bank on a rookie or unproven QB.

If the Cards pick up Smith they are an 11 win team. Fitz and Johnson are PERFECT for Smith's style. This coming from a Chiefs fan.

Would it be prudent for the Cards to pick up a veteran QB like Smith and draft one. Possibly see what QB's are left in the 2nd or 3rd round.

That would be smart. Smith would 100% win in AZ.

I am getting a bust sense with Mayfield.

I think Smith is much better than Foles. Smith is an upgrade to Palmer in their offense IMO. He wouldn't have to do much, just give it to Fitz and DJ and don't turn the ball over.
