Johnson and Kopecky are doubtful for Friday night's game.  Keep playing Kane and Toews 23 minutes each and they will soon be out.  I fore see a BIG OPEN ICE hit coming on Toews in the near future, dazed and confused he misses the rest of the playoffs.............

looks like the scratch list will include kopecky, bolland and Johnson but have no fear...they called up Jeff Taffe! I'm expecting Jeremy morin to take kopys place...hell at least add someone who wants to hit people in the lineup.

Morin is still recovering from a concussion and Pisani will take Kopecky's place.  I'm not liking that at all.

I didn't expect a sweep in Vancouver, so we'd better take game 2 to have a chance in the series.  If we don't, I don't think we get to 6 games.

If you were looking for someone to sack up last night and punish Vancouver players like they were punishing the Hawks, a Martin and/or an Asham would have done the job.

An argument can be made, that kind of response might have kept the score down to 1-0 and maybe kept Kopecky from getting his head taken off.

Hawks have TONS of skill. No muscle.

and....

Teams whose best players are physical players win Cups or contend for them. Year after year.

HAWKS HAVE NO TOUGHNESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another problem with Bowman is that where Tallon was too shoot from the hip, and probably too independent for his own good politically, Bowman is too cautious and probably too much a "corporate guy" to stand up and say, "no, we need to do some serious re-engineering." 

That is the thing that is leading me to believe this team will be like the Bears of the late 80s: an uber-talented young team, supposed Dynasty, that was mismanaged by non-football types, and bean counters, and slid into mediocrity over the next ten years. In this drama, Dale Tallon is Jerry Vainisi. McDonough is McCaskey.

Anyone who thinks this roster with Jeremy Morin (and his concussion) and Kyle Beach and Marcus Kruger is going to be any different or better is utterly fooling themselves.

I am starting to have serious doubts about Bowman, and his father's ability to push back on McDonough/Blunk and the other suits. They want to build a Detroit-like team but they seem to miss the fact that for every Datsyk and Zetterberg, there is a Brad Stuart (which the Hawks don't have) a Niklas Kronwall (ditto), a Kris Draper and a Darren Helm. Lock up all your money in 8-9 players as soft as the Dairy Queen menu and you will never be able to get those players either.
