Shtickless - Unless Being Dead Is A Shtick Topic

being ex-military, i probably graded Hurt Locker higher than most would - i thought it was fantastic

i thought Ronin kept my attention and was rewatchable, could it have been better, sure - i watched that and The Score (yes, that one) back to back, and thought Ronin was better - didnt think i could downgrade it to 2012/Starsky & Hutch level

the Town proves, at least, that Affleck can direct....The American could have been a great movie - they depended way too much on scenery for suspense and just didnt pull it off....Control is very very good, but i love Joy Division, so that probably makes it better for me

Maybe it will be cold enough in Minny that one of ARod's 'roid veins will freeze and shatter.
its supposed to about 55* with 5-10mph winds on Wed.

Hurt Locker gets an A from me
District 9 gets an A from me as well.  Didn't expect any humor so that was a nice surprise

Ronin is one of those movies that makes me hate Mamet. Too much "hey, look at how clever and rule-breaking I am" **** that is neither and ends up just being annoying (i.e. Sean Bean's character). Great car chases, but if that's what I want I'll just re-watch Vanishing Point.

2012 is the best movie on that list.

i thought the whole point of Bean's character was to be annoying - showing how out of his depth he was in that situation, before he was embarrasssed and asked to leave

anyways, nice reference, who are you, Dennis Miller

i think i read today that the Pirates went from the best defense in MLB last season to the worst this season. thats remarkable.

If only tracyr was here to enlighten us on people talking about wins and losses for quarterbacks...

McNabb is being treated like he did anything well, when he just had two completions on blown coverages and then nothing else noteworthy. Just a bad game otherwise, and probably played the worst of any of the three quarterbacks involved.

Meanwhile Kolb might face criticism when all he did was lead the Eagles back and come within a clean-drop by the Eagles' most sure-handed receiver on the last play of the game from winning. Odd.
I don't even disagree with any of that.  But nobody's really saying McNabb had a good game, that I've seen.  The local Washington people certainly weren't.  He hardly had enough pass attempts for it to be a reasonable sample.

But the criticism of Kolb that I've heard is silly.  He did a very nice job of taken what he was given.  Haslett chose to shut down Jackson/Maclin at all costs, forcing it to them wouldn't have ended well.
