UNO DRAFT LEAGUE--VERSION 8--FULL Topic

Time to bring back the 7th version of this successful and entertaining draft in the Sim Live realm. UNO is different from regular draft themes in that it incorporates three (3) basic components--1) Selecting a team 2) Choosing players and fitting under the cap and 3) Screwing the other 23 owners in any given round. It's called UNO, because just like the card game, you never know what is gonna come up.
Here is how it works:
* There will be 25 rounds comprising this draft. In rounds 1-24, each round will begin with the owner choosing first in that given round selecting a team and then a player from that team, the round will then continue with the other 23 owners selecting players from the team selected.
EXAMPLE: Round 1 begins, I have the first overall pick and choose Pittsburgh and Roberto Clemente, owner 2 would pick next and select Willie Stargell and so forth on down the line until round 1 completes. Round 2 begins with the owner who chose 2nd in round 1, he selects the Cardinals and Bob Gibson, everyone else bumps up one spot in the draft order and I would move to 24. The draft goes this same way until Round 25, when the draft order will be randomized again, and ANY player may be selected that has not already been chosen.
* The draft will use ANY and ALL teams that were in existence from 1950 until 2008. Once a team has been selected, that team is dead and cannot be selected by anyone else. (some earlier teams may be inlcuded as well to offset the use of the reverse card).
* Once a player has been selected, he is also dead and must be used in the team unifrom he was drafted for. EXAMPLE--let's say Rickey Henderson was chosen in the New York Yankee round, he can only be used as a Yankee and cannot be chosen later in the A's round.
* WILD CARD--No Wild Card this version.

*SKIP CARD--each owner will also be given one (1) Skip card--this card may be played at any time during the draft which will automatically skip the next person BEFORE or AFTER you in each round, thus forcing that person to the bottom of THE CURRENT ROUND (regardless of whether everse played or not). Once a skip card is played by ANY owner, another one may not be used by any other owner in that round. If ya don't wanna use it, you don't have to, but if the guy after you has been a pain, skip him..LOL. An owner may only be skipped ONCE.
*REVERSE CARD --back again by popular demand. Say we are about 12 owners into a certain round, and owner 13 is up....he may play his REVERSE card and select a new franchise for the remainder of the round (ex: round team is Seattle Pilots--owner 10 comes along and selects St. Louis Cardinals--owners 10 through 24 would then draft from St. Louis)---wanted to try this for awhile, and if we get the pool of owners I suspect we will, this could be fun. HOWEVER--only one reverse can be played in a given round, and you may only use your reverse ONCE.--props to habsfan1 here for the idea.

**OWNERS CANNOT USE THEIR SKIP AND REVERSE CARD IN SAME ROUND****
* Additional rules/guidelines:
120 million cap
60 game live requirement (playoffs must be played live)
NO AAA
NO DH
NO CLONES
TRADES ALLOWED once season starts
NO WW
Stadium--must be a stadium used by the team you selected during your round from 1950-2009.
* Draft order will be determined using www.random.org in Round 1 and 25. All other rounds will be set by the next owner in line moving up one spot.
*All owners will have to be careful not to exceed the 120 cap at any time during the draft. This could result in forfeiting a pick and replacing him with someone of lesser value.
*You may use any season of your selected player as long as the season used is one for the team selected in that round.
*No twisting of players, they must be used in a season they played for the team you selected them for.
* I know that is alot to digest, but once it starts, it is very easy and fun.
* This league fills very quickly, sign up now to reserve your spot.

Are you only allowed to use player seasons from 1950-2008? Either way I'll get in.
7/14/2009 11:31 AM
thanks guys.

No, there will be instances where some player seasons used will be prior to 1950 based on teams selected and reverses used. You must use a player season for that team corresponding with the years listed beside the team in use.
7/14/2009 11:33 AM
and there will be a few more older teams added by the request of some who have played in this league for awhile. It will spice it up a bit.
