A Pulldown Hush-Hush Topic Topic

I'm at D3 primarily, have one D2 team.

1. Do calls help if you are still getting the backup option message? Does it still count for effort points or is that only if you have pulled them down? Will it annoy them any if I call them 10 or 20 times and send some letters?

2. Do people drop sooner if you put X number of evals into them? So, if I eval someone 5 times, will they drop a few cycles sooner even if I don't instantly pull them down? Is it possible that someone who listed me as a backup, but wasn't actually ever going to drop, will now drop because I eval'd him a few times? Even if it isn't enough to outright pull him down.

Unrelated but I wanted to ask one more thing-- anything wrong with me rescinding the scholarship of someone I recruited last year but is not really that good? Will I just lose a few points of loyalty or reputation or something? Will it hurt me this recruiting cycle? Does it matter at all if I don't plan on leaving the school?

Disclaimer: I realize some people don't want to talk about this, I would appreciate it greatly if someone sitemail'd me if they didn't want to talk about it on the forums. Thanks again.

1 - No. It only counts once they start considering you or have dropped. Yes, it will eventually annoy them.

2) Nope. They will drop the same time, but when they drop you will have a leg up and get them to consider you with less effort. Only way they will consider you sooner is if you pull them down. If you want a guy who will never drop to you, but said back up option you will need to pull him down.

Yea, you get a slight loss in I believe its rep. Nothing major, and should be no issue at all if you plan on sticking around for a few more seasons. Really only effects your promotions.

Yes your rep is a very small part of recruiting power. But if you are just dropping 1 kid you will be fine.

Thanks guys

Has anyone ever pulled anyone down with 5 evals?

edit: I feel like the number it usually takes me is 10.

OK and last thing so I can try to understand this: Can I pull down with less evals if it is later in the signing period?
8/20/2009 8:24 PM
I used to think the number was around 10, but for me lately, the last few have taken around 20 to pull down.....
I don't know if that's just random, or they are making it harder.

For me Ive never used anything but 10 and its always worked no matter what. The only problem is I always end up pulling someone down the same cycle that someone else does.

It just depends. If nobody else is targeting them it takes less. If someone else is sending them love - even if they are still undecided it could take 20+ evals.

Furry, I realize you do know quite a bit about pulldowns, but I don't believe that last statement is correct. I'm pretty positive that whether or not another team is also sending the kid evals has no impact on how much effort it takes to pull him down.

no such thing

they are dropping down - what you do $$$/recruiting wise has no affect

once they drop, sure, if you have money in them, (more than someone else) then yeah, you have a leg up - but you can NOT make them drop before the sim has them slated to drop

all you morons thinking you are *beating* the sim - too funny

human coached d2 school jumped on him the first cycle after the signing period, doesn't look like i'll get a chance for him to drop anyways so i'll go elsewhere. thanks for everyone's help.

Rob, you're 100% off base here.

(And no one's thinking that they're *beating* the sim. It's a designed part of the game.)

Then how did I have a player considering my B prestige team before he dropped to A+ team in my conference? Distance about the same, about 200 miles?

When was the last time you tried? I don't care what you've been told in the past, but 140th ranked players don't start considering DII teams during the second cycle of recruiting because they've already dropped.
