i was hoping but it didn’t happen Topic

i have an Ace that's been on my team for 13 years and he's going FA next year. He'll get a max deal and i won't give out one so i've accepted the fact that i won't have him anymore. at least i'll get a couple picks for him.

i kept checking his demands all year in a wild hope he'd change his mind though and alas he never did. i like the update where more good FA decide to go FA but it has bugged me a little that a guy on a very successful team making the playoffs year in and year out would be just as likely to bail as a guy on crap team. for example how many real life FA choose to leave the Yankees or Red Sox? even this year Damon and godziyya have said they don't want to leave. So i thought well maybe if i make the WS again he'll change his mind (i know i dreaming) and i did make it but he's still leaving.

just a little *****. still happy with the way it is overall just seems like a little player loyalty like that would be nice to be programmed in. edit: never went to arb. signed long term right away.)

"how many real life FA choose to leave the Yankees or Red Sox?"

That's because the Yankees and Red Sox have all the money. In real life, there is almost no way that leaving the Yankees or Red Sox can mean anything other than making LESS money. The exception to this would of course be leaving one for the other. Which Johnny Damon did just a couple of years ago.

A better comparison is the NFL (or NBA, etc) because these are salary capped leagues, which (essentially) is what HBD is. And the answer to the question for the NFL is that basically everybody on the Super Bowl Champs who is a FA leaves, because the Champs' #2 WR will get #1 WR money on the FA market, the Champs' backup RB will get a starting job and money somewhere on the FA market, etc, and the salary cap prevents the Champs from matching all of these contracts. And they almost NEVER take less money to stay.
