Who do I draft Topic

First pick this year. I need pitching, but there's none, and I'm between 2 guys now. As a team, I have middle of the pack power, but by far the most speed.

Player A:

Current: 67/73/45/78/59 with 81 speed 70 baserunning, 88/80/85 Dur/Health/Makeup

Projected: 85/90/54/92/60 with 81 speed 89 baserunning, 94/82/97 Dur/Health/Makeup



Player B:

Current: 55/89/59/69/82 with 33 speed 26 baserunning, 60/84/87 Dur/Health/Makeup

Projected: 71/100/84/97/91 with 33 speed 32 baserunning, 89/86/79 Dur/Health/Makeup



I'm probably overvaluing the speed/baserunning ability of player A, but it's been working for me lately(Middle of the league in HRs/AVG, but 1st in steals and 2nd in runs scored) and I think he could end up hitting .300 and going 40/40.

I would go Player B because of his Eye. But, if A is good enough defensively to play SS, 2B, CF. Then I might go with him.

Updated, they're both mediocre fielders, so I planned on sticking either of them in LF. Not worried about fielding.

I love speed and baserunning, but you got to go with B. With that BE, he'll be an excellent cleanup man.

In fact, his ceiling is so high, you might actually be able to deal him for an ace SP (or prospect). Those trades are hard to pull off, because DHs are so easy to find, but this might be one of those exceptions.

Player B, and it shouldn't even be a question. Player B is an MVP bat, while Player A should be a platoon man with that mediocre y split. Player A will steal more bases but you won't care when Player B is winning triple crowns.

I wonder how aggravated I'd be if I were drafting 3rd in this draft and these were by far the two best prospects. The guy drarfting #2 might not see the projections of one of these guys, but ends up bumping them up to 1 and 2 in their rankings based on this post. A player then that should have fallen to three ends up going second.

I guess it just helps to have people who do this in your world so that you can save on scouting.

who picks #2 and doesn't spend enough money on scouting to see that these players are good?

You can spend $20 mill on scouting and still some of the top guys will show up on your list with "not scouted well enough".
