Home Run Rate Update

Following the “end of the steroid era” update, the HR/G rate at the big league level continues to drop. At this point, it’s a bit below what we had projected. This update will bump the rate up a bit. Prior to the update, the HR/G for two teams was ~2.80. As of this week, it had fallen to ~2.02. We are striving for ~2.40. And, remember, the drop off is only at the top. Those power hitters that were hitting 80+ homers will come back to Earth a bit (with everyone else falling into place). This HR/G rate can be monitored on the World Snapshot page: http://www.whatifsports.com/hbd/Pages/Main/WorldSnapshot.aspx

I hate to bring this up again because it seems like it's been beaten to death but is this post from patrick supposed to mean that only the top end home run hitters are going to be limited and the rest are still going to hit the same amount of homers? It seems completely ridiculous if that is the case. Almost like he is saying a 90 power guy and a 99 power guy with all other things being equal, will hit home runs at about an equal rate with the intended change.

You already know the answer isn't in the forums. Ask patrick if you have a genuine question.

You're right. It was IN HIS OWN POST!

I'm disappointed they didn't include the prospect budget limitation. I thought it would be a good tool to reduce tanking.

What date does this new update take effect?

2/2

why would they strive for ~2.4 HR/G?...that is higher than any single season of MLB, including the steroid era, which topped out at 2.34 HR/G...where it is now is pretty much in line with post-testing MLB and still higher than most of the history of baseball...i wouldn't be terribly disappointed with 2.2 HR/G (even though that would still be high)...also disappointed they didn't include the prospect budget cap...ugh

Gives you a week to get your 40 in order.

I am sure plenty of owners will be happy with the HR surge again, and the unlimited prospect budget..... now the "tankers" can stay and let their High A players lose 120 games for them some more :)

also no mention of increasing doubles to MLB levels, which would have upped the SLG and perhaps quieted some of the "what happened to my player?" threads...overall, very discouraging to see...perhaps i should threaten to quit or demand my money back and claim my team is getting screwed, because it seems like that is what gets admin's attention

Look at my team in world MLB, they just wasted a season of my players' fake lives, my real money, my real time, and my shot at fake glory. I want my money back for this least season. Seriously, they made the update two times to strong according to their calculation.
